The Common Room / Found Illegitimate births including father's names - Lambeth
« on: Thursday 29 February 24 10:56 GMT (UK)  »
Found these births/baptism parish records for
Lambeth Lying in Hospital, [York Street] Surrey about 1840 - 1870

The 1853 partial page below show both parents names when child is illegitimate. Includes both occupations and their individual addresses.

Obviously some of these children were registered outside the Lambeth area - and some used Father's surname, others used Mum's name.

Imagine someone with a brick wall finding this info! It would be a wonderful find.

Hope it's useful for someone.

EDIT: These Baptisms are on Ancestry

The Common Room / Missing KRAUTWIG Family
« on: Sunday 28 January 24 12:08 GMT (UK)  »
I've recently found that Florence Harriett.. WILLIAMS married Leopold Peter ...KRAUTWIG in 1883 at Soho, Warwick Street (Bavarian Chapel), Our Lady of the Assumption & St Gregory. A Catholic church in Westminster I understand.

Only sightings after that time are:

Florence Williams was godmother to her niece Ada Florence Mary Smith in 1882 at her baptism.
Florence & Leopold Krautwig were godparents to Florence Beatrice Helen Smith when Bp in 1886.
 - Both the baptisms were at the SOHO church mentioned above.

2 separate newspaper articles mention them - Leopold in 1886 & Florence in 1899. No other sightings. In 1886 address mentioned was Countess Road Kentish Town (London).

Census checking produced no results.

Would appreciate if SKS can see or find them anywhere at anytime post 1883 - even a death notice or maybe immigration??

Many thanks
Fingers crossed  :D

Kent / Kent Will 1697
« on: Wednesday 07 June 23 08:36 BST (UK)  »
Looking for a copy of a will dated 1697 for NicholasWraight of Woodnesborough Probate 1697
ref: PRC/17/79/123b   PRC/16/333 W/5   OW&C   1697

There's also an Inventory but thought I'd postpone looking at it as this may not be my guy.

Is there any chance the original will could be on a film via Family Search?

I realise that the local archives might be the only option but thought I'd try elsewhere for starters.

Thanks for any suggestions

Northumberland / Question re Northumberland MI index
« on: Tuesday 28 December 21 07:29 GMT (UK)  »

I don't need a specific look up, but do have a quick question for anyone who may have a copy of

"Northumberland and Durham Memorial Inscriptions"

Would like to know if the above mentioned MI's contain all actual wording from a Headstone or simply a summary like name and date of death (as per those shown on FindMyPast).

Thanks

The Common Room / Incorrect Ancestry images
« on: Tuesday 06 March 18 06:34 GMT (UK)  »
Has anyone else found a mess with some Ancestry records today?

I was looking at the "London, England, Workhouse Admission and Discharge Records, 1764-1930" and every person I checked has the same image; a collage of mixed documents - none of which are related to the person in the search.

There have been other changes to text size and formatting which is a little inconsistent as well.

Frustrating  ::)

Cambridgeshire / Ely Diocese Marriage Licences
« on: Friday 11 December 15 10:10 GMT (UK)  »
Some new transcripts of marriage licences are now available on FindMyPast. I believe that the transcriptions are not exactly correct and would like to obtain a copy of the original record.

FindMyPast says these are available at Suffolk Record Office. I've tried 2 of their offices and neither appear to know anything about the originals.

Other option seems to be the Cambs University Library.

Has anyone found or obtained a copy of these specific marriage licences?
If so - how and where?

Merry Christmas to everyone
