World War Two / WW2 medals and what they mean

Hi there,
I'm just gathering some information on my great grandad John Arthur etherington scott (b.1906 d.1984) and my nan found his medals. I was just wondering what they mean or how to find out more. I havn't gotten his service records yet but did read the post about aquiring them but thought I could ask about the medals first. All I know is that he was in the army but not sure what his rank was or anything.

Scotland / Finding birth unsure surname

Hi there,
I'm trying to find a birth record but unsure of surname at birth as it was from a previous relationship.
Herroll Elliott Macleod b 1895 Aberdeen was the 2nd wife of my great grandad Henry George Stephen. They got married in Glasgow 1939.

she had a daughter  called June but not sure surname at birth

Is there a, way to search without having surname?

On Herrolls burial in Bath there was a Zoe who I think is Herrolls grandaughter. Full name amended as I think she is till living
I searched 192 with address on burial record and there was a, June E Graham living at the address with zoe.

Tried searching births with Graham but think that maybe married name?

Can anyone help?

Hi there,
I'm trying to find a baptism record for my nana b.16.6.1942 Kathleen Scott.

She told me she was baptised at St winifreds in york/maltby but she has never been able to get record as she was told some records had been destroyed ? in a fire. She said as a young girl she never got confirmed as no record of baptism.

can anyone help?

Not sure if this is the correct board.
My grandma Kathleen Scott b16.6.1942 was born at acombe maternity hospital in york and lived in Middle cottage, thornton le clay. We are planning day trip to york to visit some old places and trying to find the place she lived as a baby.

Does anyone know how I can find where the middle cottage would be so we can go visit? Not sure if it would still be standing?

Aberdeenshire / Elizabeth Stephen

I'm trying to check birth mother for an Elizabeth Stephen born in aberdeen 25.01.1931.
I usually use the gro index for english releatives to cross reference but not sure how to do this for scottish releatives. Is there a scottish version of gro?

I'm sure her father was Henry George Stephen and I thought her mother was Cornelia bonte irvine but a family member mentioned step siblings so now not sure if they have same mother.

Can anyone help find birth record or assist

She married a David Smith but unsure when or where they married
