I am hoping someone would be able to help find information on Thomas Bernard (wife Sybil Brackstone I believe) died  16 May 1680 and it seems that he is mentioned in Burke's Peerage 107th Edition  Page 489.

Unfortunately I cannot retrieve anymore information.  He is my 10th Great Grandfather so very keen to learn more about him and his family line.

Any help will be gratefully received.

Thanks,

Edward Johnson (Johonsen) was born in 1834, Norway. His trade it states on his Marriage Transcription in NSW was a carpenter however no mother or father was recorded.

He married Susan Smith on 27 March 1871 in Scone, New South Wales. They had 11 children in 24 years. (Reg: 1871/3454)

He died on 28 August 1918 in Scone, New South Wales, at the age of 84. It was suggested Edward's name/s were altered upon entering the Australia.

Jorgen Battlason >This name was recorded on family history sheets as Edward Johnson's father given to Scone Historical Society by a descendant of Susan Johnson nee Smith (Edward Johnson's wife).  However not sure where this information was sourced.  I have not been able to locate anyone with that name.

From the 'New South Wales Certificate of Naturalization' he was born in Norway and arrived in Australia in 1861 on board the ship 'Yorkshire' (his age at the time of signing the papers in 1874 was of 34).  (Ref No: 73:45)

I would love to find out more about 'Edward Johnson' - his birth and his parents.  Why he was born in Norway?  I have been told his Edwards parents were apparently Danish.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much!

« on: Sunday 12 November 17 23:12 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for my 2nd Great Grandfather Terence Francis Lynch, originating from Ireland but arrived in Victoria, Australia in 13 Dec 1873. I have done quite a bit of research but at a standstill. It seems like a troubled life for all concerned but I am hoping to find out what happened to him after 12 Jan 1878 when the Emerald Police Station arrested him for a second time for deserting his wife Mary (Barrett).

Hi!  I am posting with the hope you may be able to help me.  I am trying to find Richard James Hodges parents/grandparents.

I have the mothers maiden name as 'Wright' and some vague guesses as to fathers first name but I cannot find any matches for what I have.  Rather than confuse the issue with more names I thought to keep it simple for now.  The birth, marriage and death and probate details for Richard James Hodges are listed below.  Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction?
Any help whatsoever will be gratefully received.

Thanks!

I've reached a dead end in my search for my great-grandfather I am just not sure where to go so I am hoping that someone on here may be able to lend a helping hand or push me in the right direction, or is looking for this family line.
I believe his birth name was Enoch Henry Cartwright.
I've found records for him in Australia > on his marriage certificate he is registered as Henry Cartwright (Born in Birmingham and his father is Henry Cartwright) married to Hannah BEAN (from Yorkshire)
On the births and deaths of his children through BDM NSW his surname is 'Cartwright' and his first name is recorded as  Henry, Harry and Enoch.
He lived in Sydney but in two different records his place of birth is recorded as Birmingham and Staffordshire in UK.
Died at the age of 96 (we believe) in Auburn NSW in 1955 and apparently lived in the colony for 80 years.
The Death Notice in the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper (1955) states the name 'Enoch Henry Cartwright'.
I have searched all the ships and passenger lists for him but as I cannot confirm his birth, only assume the ages of passengers do not match the information I have.  I have no idea of any other family except for a father known as Henry.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me!
Karen

Australia / Trying to trace William Johnson NSW Australia
« on: Friday 09 September 16 09:54 BST (UK)  »
I've hit a brick wall and I am not sure where to go now.  Hopefully someone may be related to William Johnson (aka Billy) and may be able to help me.

All I can find for William Johnson is that he was co-respondent in my grandmothers divorce.
HYDE vs HYDE  DECREE NISI - DESERTION The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW : 1842-1954), Tuesday 29 October 1935, page 8

The papers were handed to him at 'Silverspurs' 61 Hampstead Road, Auburn (or Silverwater) NSW.  At that time there are Census records showing one Malcolm Johnson and his wife Margaret Agnes were living at that address.  Later a son Darrell John Johnson also resided there.

He moved to another address sometime after he was given the divorce papers and that address was 12 Richards Road, Fairfield via Bossley Park NSW.

My guess is that he was born in the early 1900 or late 1800's.  The time period I am talking about would be from 1930.  That is all I know.

If anyone can help I would be very grateful.
