Argyllshire / regiments stationed at Fortwilliam 1780s,
« on: Wednesday 21 September 11 09:08 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find out the names of any regiments stationed at Fortwilliam in the 1780s/1790s. I can trace a family tree to a person who was the "Keeper of Stores" in the 1780s at Fortwilliam  and his children's baptisms at Kilmallie but I don't know which regiment he was in.

Could anyone point me in the right direction to get an answer

thanks
John

Donegal / Robert,Rebecca,Margaret and Emily Scott from Glencross to Philadelphia
« on: Tuesday 13 March 07 20:28 GMT (UK)  »
I have traced the passenger list of SS Furnessia which sailed from Londonderry on 3rd October 1904 and reached New York on 18th October 1904.
Travelling  as second class passengers were ancestors of mine Robert Scott (aged 24) and his sister Rebecca Scott (aged 18). Robert's occupation was given as farmer ; Rebecca had no occupation. They were from Glencross in Co. Donegal

According to the manifest; they were travelling to Philadelphia - to join a cousin - James Doak of 1141, South Cleveland Avenue, Philadelphia.

I also have traced a record of a Robert's sisters Margaret Scott  and Emily Scott of Glencross  arriving on ss "The Arabic" in New York on 18th September 1910
They were  going to join their brother Mr. R Scott (Robert) of 2614 Mary Street north(?) Philadelphia.

Any information  on these members of the family welcome

Dublin / Kildare Place School, Dublin - McGreal
« on: Friday 09 March 07 06:48 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know where I could find the records of either past teachers of the school or teachers who were trained at the school.
I'm trying to trace information on William James McGreal born 28th July 1872 who was a teacher for a time and was linked to Kildare Place School. This would have been around 1892-1895. He stopped teaching in late 1895

Any help welcome

Mayo / Matilda and Martha McLean of Capparanny, Turlough, Co. Mayo emigrated to USA
« on: Wednesday 07 March 07 19:52 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to trace descendants of two members of the McLean family who emigrated to the US in the early 1900s.

Matilda McLean  - single - aged 17  of Castlebar  sailed on the ss. Magestic  from Queenstown (Cobh Co. Cork) and arrived in New York on 3rd April 1902
Matilda  returned to Ireland at some stage because there is a second record of her travelling to the US - this time as a "non immigrant alien"   when she sailed on the ss Etruria from Queenstown arriving on 16 th Sept 1908.. Her address was given as 343 w 45 street, New York and her occupation was Stenographer.

Martha E. McLean aged 17  sailed on the ss Germanic which sailed from Queenstown (Cobh Co. Cork) and arrived in New York on 25th May 1900. She was going to her cousin Mearson(?) 36 (or 56) Walnut Street, Oneonta, New York

There is a second record of Martha arriving at New York on 25th August 1909 aboard the ss Caronia which sailed from Queenstown. The ship's manifest shows that she had already been in US from 1900 to 1909 and that she was visiting her sister Matilda Hol(y)inger of 742, St Nicholas Avenue, New York.

Any help or information woudl be very welcome

Any/all information is very welcome.
