Family History Beginners Board / David Lyall
« on: Wednesday 01 April 20 12:59 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for information on David Lyell who married Mary Greed 1760. He was an innkeeper at the Black Bear in Piccadilly. I would like to know if he ever had a connection to the Chesterfield Arms in Little Carrington Street. His daughter Allison married Joseph William Carrington from Hanover Square and had two daughters Mary and and Maria. I would like to know if the daughters married.

Staffordshire / Nathaniel Carrington
« on: Saturday 22 September 18 06:10 BST (UK)  »
Nathaniel Carrington born in Wetton 1661-1749. He was a yeoman. His wife was Jane Gillman 1680-1740 from Wetton. He would have been about 30 when he married.
They had several children including Nathan born 1700 or 1702 who became a Kings messenger. And Jonathan born 1717 who was a footman to the Duke of Cumberland and later became a yeoman guard (my line). Another son Samuel born 1713 may have been a cordwainer.
I am looking for a descendant of Nathaniel's who may have family knowledge of him and who his parents were. Hope someone can help.

Hi, I am looking for help to find out a few things firstly a death for Joseph William Carrington who was born in middlsex in 1763 and I suspect died between 1802 and 1828.
Also a death date for his wife Charlotte nee Buckingham.
The other is anything on a daughter Elizabeth Carrington born between 1895 and 1802 probably in Middlesex.
Also how did Joseph's only son go from son of a wealthy attorney living in Mount Street Grovenor Square to a shoemaker in Kidderminster? Fauxy Lady

I am looking for information on Joseph William Carrington. He married Allison Lyall and had two daughters *Mary Ann 1792 married 1812 William Weight; *Maria 1794 married 1830 James Watts or Wall. Then married 1795  Charlotte Buckingham and had *Charlotte Rosina 1797 married  1837 Joseph Russell Kirk; Joseph William 1802 middlesex married Jane Bradney 1827 at Kidderminster. *Hanover square. I have information on Charlotte Rosina and Joseph William jnr. But nothing much on Mary Ann or Maria.
JWCsen was an attorney in Middlesex, lived in 92 & 95 Mount Street, paid rates and taxes. He dissaperared out of the indexes and I cannot find a death for him or Charlotte. I cannot find them in the 1841 indexes either. His father John Carrington may have had a country property and Mount Street may have been a town house.  I live in Australia and are finding it difficult to investigate from here.  Can anyone help. Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Osborne / Jones
« on: Friday 16 June 17 14:03 BST (UK)  »
Hi to anyone who can help. I am trying to find information on Susannah Osborne, born to John Osborne and Elizabeth Partridge in 1838 in Whittington Worchestershire (family search documentaion.
In 1851 she was working in Cowle for John Pigeon Cottrill as a maid.
John Cottrill's wife died in 1854 and I suspect Susannah moved onto another Jones family possibly related to John Cottrill's wife Jane Brookholding Jones.
The family story is that Susannah the maid married the (a) son of the Jones family Charles Jones  in 1857 and they went to Australia
I have a copy of the marriage certificate
At Norton Juxta Kempsly, Charles Jones, full age, father Harry, cordwainer.
The Australian side of the story is well documented and known.
My problem is which Jones is he.
Charles maybe only one of his names as the only other Jones that came out with the ship Susannah was on was William Henry aka Charles.
At his 1st marriage he said father was Harry a cordwainer (his first son was Harry)
His 2nd marriage in Australia he said his father was Edwin Charles Jones a shoemaker and mother Catherine Jane Bradley.
His death cert. says his father was Joseph mother Jane, it is understood he supplied that information before his death.
As you see I have a real problem working out who his parents were.
His children were Mary Ann, Harry, Alice Jane, Frederick, Eva and Alfred. The name Carrington appears in every generation and is believed to be a family connection. Charles was a bootmaker in Ballarat Victoria. Susannah died in 1871 and was buried with her stillborn son Alfred.
Me and many others have tried to unravel this puzzle I hope someone can help. Fauxy Lady
