Dumfriesshire / Location of Girth Head farm
« on: Saturday 26 September 20 11:27 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm trying to locate a Girth Head Farm, Wamphrey near Lockerbie. Can't seem to locate it on Google!
My maternal grandfather died there in 1963.
I can't even figure out why he was there as he lived on Main Street in Lockerbie?
Only thing I've got to connect him to any farm is that his mother's husband was a shepherd!?
Thank you in anticipation.
Pete

Antrim / Antrim Castle
« on: Sunday 03 June 18 12:00 BST (UK)  »
I'm wondering if there may be any records or information on Antrim Castle ?
I realise it was destroyed by the IRA during the troubles.
My gggrandfather was a renowned sculptor and during the 1800s the then Lord Antrim sent a coach and horses to pick him up from Eaglesfield in Dumfriesshire and take him to Antrim Castle.
This occurred on numerous occasions but I've no information on what he did there.
He ran a wee art school here for the local gentry (who were friendly with the Antrim family) so it may have been an extension of that.....or perhaps to work on stone carvings?
Any info on where I may be able to find records would be great....thanks.
Pete.

Wigtownshire / Malzie Bridge, Kirkinner
« on: Monday 11 December 17 20:46 GMT (UK)  »
Hi...just located my maternal ggm's husband's birth certificate and it states his birthplace (in 1871) as, I think, Malzie Bridge in Kirkinner Parish. Can anyone point me to it's location please? His father Thomas Semple was a blacksmith so unsure if this was a farm or a hamlet. Many thanks. Pete.
