I keep getting hints of a Hannah Siswick Marrying a George Hanson 1800 at Horbury, Yorks. but it can't be right as the name, area, and dates don't work out (George would have only been 14)
Any help would be appreciated.

I know that at some time he went to live in South Africa, and never returned.

I have no information regarding his wife.

World War One / Thomas Henry Bury
« on: Saturday 19 October 19 16:07 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find information about Thomas Henry Bury born 1894 in Burnley, Lancashire.
He served with 2 brothers, James Andrew Bury, 14th Fld Amb. RAMC, and William Bury MGC
I have conflicting information about Thomas Henry
1. That he served in 10th Bn. The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) and he died of his wounds in France in 1916.
2. That  he served in the RAMC, the last reliable information that I have is that he was stationed in Torquay in 1915.

« on: Saturday 03 February 18 10:12 GMT (UK)  »
My sister in law has found in her late husbands possesions a copy of a letter dated July 22nd 1890.
The letter is to William C Cowell's daughter Edith, giving her advice on the eve of her wedding.
The letter was in an envelope addressed to a Mrs L. M. Bradridge, of Charmant, Exeter Road, Dawlish, Devon, UK

The postmark on the envelope is dated 31st December 1970.
I am unable to find any connection to my family.
I am quite willing to send a copy to any interested party.

Canada / Looking for William & Hannah Dales
« on: Tuesday 16 January 18 15:18 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find the passenger records and any other information for a William Dales or Dale and his wife Hannah (nee Smith)

They were born in the Hessle area of Hull, Yorkshire UK. Hannah was born around 1808. And died around 1881

It appears that they emigrated to Canada (or the USA) both William and Hannah appear in the Canadian census of 1861.

A number of my family (from 1819 to the 1860's) have the name  'Smith' as part of their Christian names, including the girls.

I have been given information that Hannah Dales (Smith) may be the connection

Immigrants & Emigrants - General / Joseph George Anson 1842 - 1913
« on: Thursday 28 December 17 13:55 GMT (UK)  »
I have a mystery with Joseph George Anson.

He was born in Hambleton Yorkshire in 1842; He married Elizabeth Webster in October 1864.
At the 1871 census he lived at Chapel St. Hambleton, with his wife and 2 daughters Mary Elizabeth and Ada. He was a potato merchant and agricultural engine driver employing 1 labourer.
After 1871 he disappears.
The next reference to him is a gravestone in York cemetery, where he, his wife Elizabeth, and daughter Mary Elizabeth Marshall (Anson) are buried. His inscription says that he died 11th March 1913 in the USA

I have no idea how, or why he went to the USA. I can find no record of his passage there, or where in the USA he died.
