« on: Wednesday 24 February 21 12:32 GMT (UK)  »
Ordered a physical DC on 17th, it arrived this morning (24th) before mid-day. 🎉
I don't think I've ever had one arrive this quickly before, even in 'normal times'. Kudos to GRO & Royal Mail. 🌷🌸🌹🌻🌼

The Common Room / Simeon! Wherefore art thou Simeon CORFIELD?
« on: Tuesday 24 December 19 12:38 GMT (UK)  »
Apologies to the Bard.

Simeon CORFIELD b 18 Jul 1900 married 20 Dec 1919 to Elizabeth Wilson b 22 Jul 1901, a son John b 9 Jun 1920 all in Wigan, Lancashire, England.
I have them in 1901/11 census with their respective families and in lan-opc PRs transcripts but that is it!
After the birth of John they disappear. John is possibly with his g'dad & his second wife in 1939, a redacted entry. I cannot find Simeon & Elizabeth there nor are they listed as casualties of WW2 in CWGC, I haven't found their deaths on FreeBMD or gov.uk nor Find-a-will.

So did they serve in the forces and emigrate afterwards or are they still alive and in hiding as they don't want to appear in the record books?  :D ;D
Have I missed them in my searches?  :-[

Where are they??  >:(

The Common Room / Large Family, do they run in the family?
« on: Friday 13 December 19 02:00 GMT (UK)  »
A couple in one of my trees had 13 children, of those one daughter had 10, another had 7 and a third daughter and a son had 5 each, there were three other grandchildren for a grand total of 30.
That's if I've found them all.

EDIT: Add another 8, just found a 1911 census for a son.
AND another 7 for another son.

Total is now 45. (and counting?)

« on: Thursday 04 July 19 10:55 BST (UK)  »
I have absolutely no interest in a particular forum. Is it possible to block ALL posts in that forum from appearing in my "unread posts"?
Do I have to block them individually using the "Ignore thread" button?
