Technical Help / Google Play - 'Pending...'
« on: Thursday 16 November 23 10:31 GMT (UK)  »
I tried to update Whatsapp last week via Play Store but all I got was 'Pending'. After a few tries, I found that all the other apps updates gave the same. Internet searches suggested that this was quite common and various solutions were suggested, I've tried them all (apart from deleting data) but I still get the continuous 'Pending'.

Has anyone got any other solutions, please?

I'm planning to upgrade my phone but I'd like to get this to work before I do.

Thanks for ideas.

The Common Room / Ancestry Trees - Media Gallery
« on: Tuesday 31 October 23 12:22 GMT (UK)  »
Is anyone else having problems accessing individual images in the Gallery?

I attempt to select an image from the thumbnails but just get a blank page.  Also, I get the same  if I want to modify an image on an individual record,

This has happened both today and yesterday. I can't remember when I last accessed this feature so it could have been an error for a while.

Photograph Resources, Tips, Tutorials / MyHeritage PhotoDater
« on: Monday 14 August 23 14:32 BST (UK)  »
I've just had an e-mail from My Heritage about the introduction of PhotoDater, an AI based app. It  suggests that dating of old photos can be done by comparison with existing dated pics.

Today we’re excited to announce the release of PhotoDater™, a groundbreaking, free new feature that estimates the year a photo was taken, using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

PhotoDater™ is one-of-a-kind: MyHeritage is the only genealogy service that offers date estimation for historical photos. Using powerful technology developed by our AI team, PhotoDater™ gives its best guess when a photo was taken. This can help you unlock further clues about who appears in the photo and the event at which it was taken, to solve mysteries in your genealogy research. PhotoDater™ is completely free!

I've not investigated it but though it would make an interesting discussion point:

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) says the following groups should be offered a Covid booster jab this autumn:

    – residents in a care home for older adults
    – all adults aged 65 years and over
    – adults and children aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk group, which includes pregnant   women
    – frontline health and social care workers
    – people aged 12 to 64 years who live with people who are  immunosuppressed
    – people aged 16 to 64 years who are carers

When will Covid booster vaccines be available?

According to the UK Health Security Agency, the rollout is due to begin in October and NHS England will be specifying an exact date closer to the time.

The JCVI has advised that the autumn programme should aim to complete vaccinations by early December 2023.
