Cumberland / Help with DIXON - all getting too much...
« on: Sunday 12 February 06 11:02 GMT (UK)  »
Rather new to this but getting confused on how to figure this out without spending a fortune on ordering BMD certificates.

Dixon family Cumberland
We know G Grandfather was John Thomas Dixon born Harrington or Workington 1878.  - There are two of these one Penrith the other Whitehaven. - have marriage and death cert but details not known

John Thomas Dixon has listed his father as Thomas on marriage cert.  In small book from Boer war he has listed Sarah in brackets under Thomas' name in parents part - Grandmother or mother but deceased??

If parents are Thomas and Sarah Dixon - are they they ones that married in 1870 at Penrith (nee Kitchen) or in 1868 (nee Atkinson) in Penrith or the ones in 1875 (nee Denkin) in Penrith.

How do you tell which path to follow.....especially when children's names are all similar too...

Cheers
