Hello fellow detectives happy isolation from New Zealand. As you can see I am researching the surname of Bockerah of London c1770's.

My ancestor lived here at Pear Tree Court, Bethnal Green 1788 [source Old Bailey] his family has been completed, but i am trying to locate his siblings, parents etc. There are many Bockron, Abrahams living in the area. Solomon married? to an Ann and had a son Solomon Bockery baptized at 9 Mar 1789 at St Leonards, Shoreditch, nothing more in known about the young Solomon.

A Clue was given when our Solomon was recorded on the Old bailey trial 10 Dec 1788 as "Solomon Baker" otherwise Buckero. Thought that 'Baker' might be his profession!. Any way a second clue is that he was buried as a reconised 'Jew' in Sydney 1791. Some talk that he may in fact be a Sephardi Jew.

My DNA has confirmed I have 1% Jewish connection. I've researched the Jewishgen site, ancestry.com but nothing concrete. So I'm looking for any body connected to these surnames, what cemeteries they may be buried in at London and helpful hints etc.

My DNA is with ancestry.com, Ftdna and my heritage.

Many thanks
Murray

« on: Sunday 05 April 20 06:05 BST (UK)  »
Hello everyone my ancestor Solomon Bockron died on 16th July 1791 a convict Jew, buried at Sydney Cove [ source Johnson’s register of burials ] in a forgotten piece of land designated by Governor Philip... Solomon was the first person to be recognised as a Jew to be buried by Rev. Richard Johnson. Solomon’s wife Ann or Sarah Buckril is buried at St Johns cemetery, Parramatta she died 1793. Her gravestone was paid for by Judge Advocate Richard Atkins. I just trying to locate Solomon’s final resting place.

Warwickshire / Looking for John Ward’s parents of Coventry.c 1814
« on: Tuesday 10 July 18 09:02 BST (UK)  »
Talk about a needle in a haystack I am trying to find my 3 X great grandfathers parents. All I have to go on is from his NZ death certificate in 1884

John Ward died in 1884 aged 64  (born c1820 Coventry). occupation Copper miner. Listed his father as John Ward snr his occupation listed as a Gamekeeper.

John Ward jnr left Coventry because he next turns up in the Parish of Stowford, Devon where he marries Mary Blithe in 1837. They then moved to Gunnislake, Cornwall occ a miner and then in 1861 went to Ontario to Bruce Mines, then onto Thames NZ. That had twelve children.

On familysearch.org there is a John Ward chc 10 Mar 1821 at Coventry son of John and Mary and a sibling Joseph ch. 4 Dec 1818. John and Mary née Blithe did have son called Joseph, So names seem to fit well.
Q. Is there info on Gamekeepers of Warwick in the 1820/30s
Q. Directory or other into which my help with The name Ward whom was a gamekeeper etc.
Q. Looking for a death of John Ward snr died possible Bef 1841 with the same or similar occupation.

There appears to be a marriage 3 Oct 1813 Nuneaton of John Ward whom married Mary Taylor but unsure if this is the right parents. Would it give Johns occupation in this marriage? Sorry I don’t have access to Ancestry.com for the moment.

Thanks for your help.
Kind regards
Murray

Late last year after a 20 year search i found a death record of my 2 x Great grand mother

Martha Maria Ward died 16 Aug 1874 at  Almaden, Santa Clara, Santa Clara, California
source gleamed from Ancestry.com

it looks as though her daughter of the same name died as well at the same time.

I would like to find out what cemetery she is buried at, if there is a headstone etc or perhaps a death notice. Her husband is James Ward, apparently he left soon after with his daughter Beatrice and son William and left for New Zealand. James was a Miner
Thank you

Canada / Looking for the Kitto family of Bruce Mines Ontairo c1871
« on: Monday 08 January 18 00:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hello fellow detectives

We are trying to find what happened to Edward and Keturah Kitto of Bruce Mines, Ontairo

They married there in 1871 source from Ancestry.com, but all efforts to find them have failed so far. I did manage to find siblings of Edward did go to the USA (Michigan). Keturah's family moved to New Zealand, and some went to California.

Keturah Ward born c1851 d/o John Ward and Mary Blithe married Edward Kitto b.c1848 s/o Edward and Jenifer Kitto of Cornwall, ENG. Edward and Keturah married 8 Jun 1872 at Algoma Distict, Bruce Mines.

Subsequent  research has drawn a blank to perhaps children born to this couple or Ontairo Deaths, turning up nil. Wondering if there is any local history centres that may hold some info. I take it Edward was a Miner.

Thank you
Murray
