Armed Forces / Help finding army records
« on: Sunday 13 February 22 21:54 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Looking for tips in finding if someone was in military. Not coming up in ancestry or find my past. Would be Northern Ireland military

Samuel Boyd
B:1863 Magheralin, Down, Northern Ireland
D:26/05/1925 Belfast, Antrim, Ireland

Could be Magherdrool co doen birth father Hugh Boyd have confirmed this on marriage record to Mary Brown. Reason I think this as strong military record in the family and he has a 9’yesr age age between children 1887 and 1896 so thought this may be the reason

« on: Wednesday 09 February 22 11:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I had an uncle who was in the royal ulster rifles he died at Military Hospital Hollywood on the 24th October 1939 and was listed on casualty list on the 21st October as dangerously ill. No cause of death on his burial record or death cert. anyway to find out more?

His name was David Cowan Boyd born 1920 7013587 was his service number.

He shows as D C Boyd on casualty list. We can’t find his birth cert and although burial etc says 19 when died his parents married 1921 so this isn’t in stone

Family History Beginners Board / Help finding missing Robert Allan
« on: Sunday 21 July 19 16:51 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

Looking for some help or tips. My grandad recently died and started his family tree tried for him before but he had no info but gained some from his death cert to get me started. He name was Robert Allan born 12th July 1924. His mother was Jane Cormack and his father Robert Allan.

Story my grandad told me was he was an orphan and ended up being fostered out and sent to a farm in Inverness as a child his sister Margaret was sent to work to work in a big house as he put it.

Anyway i have found his mothers death certificate she died December tenth 1928 but the father was still alive Robert Allan although my grandad was told he died first and was murdered being hit outside a pub. Also i have found his parents marriage cert. they were married 16th April 1920 his parents Thomas Allan and agnes Allan. Her parents James Cormack and Johan Cormack. Seems her father died in the first world war. Found their wedding cert married 9th November 1900.

Several viewings of various Robert Allan deaths and many Scotlands people credits spent. Looking for more advice or help. Also my grandad was held at the Royal Infirmary with his sister a few years in a possible children's home or workhouse situation, sorry his memory was sketchy understandably so i suppose as he was 4 when his mum died. Thanks in advance feel its a tribute to him doing this :-)
