Can anybody help put a date and/or location on this photograph please?  The three young women in the photograph emigrated from Cargin, Co. Antrim in 1880, firstly to Ontario, and then to Pittsburgh.  I think two are Kellys and one is a friend of theirs, Mary Ann McCormack.  I don't have the original of the photograph, so cannot see the back to identify any photographer studio.

US Lookup Requests / Help needed to find Phyllis and Michael in 1940!
« on: Sunday 27 March 16 15:12 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for Phyllis, and her son Michael in the 1940 census - I have Phyllis in 1910, 1920, 1930.  She is single in 1930 - Phyllis M O'Reilly, living with her mother Juanita in California.  She married Charles R Knapp sometime before 1935, as I have found them in Alhambra in 1935, and Pasadena in 1937.  Michael Edmund Knapp was born 11 Jan 1939 in California.  Phyllis married Alfred J Wilson at some point - he was listed as husband on her death certificate which I have.  I have not been able to find any of them on the 1940 census.  Phyllis died 6 March 1959 in San Fransisco.  Michael died 7 Jan 1999 in California.  Any information at all, or any leads or ideas, would be great - I would love to know what happened to Phyllis and Michael.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help need to decipher baptism name!
« on: Monday 21 March 16 18:28 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help decipher this child's name?  It looks like M.A.of Neil Kelly and Eliza McCambridge - towards the top left hand side of the page of this parish register.  (2nd Sept 1848).  Surely they didn't just baptise the baby with initials?!

Thanks for all suggestions!

Down / St. Mathew's, Ballymacarret, 1886 Marriage HUGHES MAHOOD
« on: Saturday 19 March 16 17:41 GMT (UK)  »
I have the marriage cert of Kate Hughes and Hugh Henry Mahood, 5th May 1886, in St. Mathew's paris, Ballymacarret.  I would love to find the church record to see if there is any additional information on it.  Marriage records for this parish only go as far as 1882 on the National Library of Ireland website.  Does this mean the records don't exist, or is there another way to check?  I'd be hugely grateful for any pointers!

I have some NI addresses I would like to check on the 1939 Register.  I believe the access to it is free, under the Freedom of Information act - has anyone any experience of applying for info from this register - how complicated is it/how long does it take?  Thanks in advance!

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / KELLY Southampton 1939 Register (Born in Belfast)
« on: Thursday 17 March 16 11:19 GMT (UK)  »
I have found what I believe to be my elusive Great-Uncle, Michael Henry Kelly, on the 1939 register, in Southampton.  He was born in Belfast in Aug 1889, and my family has always thought he moved to Southampton, where his son, we think Tony, was in the Navy or Marines or similar.  Michael was married to Madeline - don't know her maiden name or anything about her.  Their address in Southampton in 1939 was 26 Salisbury Road.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can go from here to find more about Michael, Madeline or Tony?  Michael was still single and living in Belfast at the time of his mother Sarah's death in November 1912.  His father John Kelly was still living in Belfast at that time too. I would love to find Michael's marriage - it could have been in Ireland or Southampton?

Armagh / HUGHES and TOWEL of Kilmore, Armagh
« on: Monday 14 March 16 12:45 GMT (UK)  »
I'm having great fun at the moment delving into the Irish Catholic Church records, free for the month of March on Ancestry!  I have found what I think could be my brick wall, Sarah Hughes, daughter of James Hughes and Eliza Jowel, baptised on 9 September 1849.  her sister Elizabeth was baptised 28 November 1850 in the same parish.  I have never heard the surname Jowel, can anyone give me any information on this at all?  The handwriting on the record is quite clear and legible. (Not sure if I can upload due to copyright?) Any advice or leads would be brilliant!
AMEND:  Think surname is TOWEL not JOWEL (see below)

World War Two / Can anyone identify this uniform please?
« on: Monday 11 August 14 17:28 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for some help in trying to track down this guy from my tree - a couple of my relatives have the idea that he was in the Navy and possibly living in Southampton. I'd be very grateful for any pointers as to what this uniform might be? Sorry I know there's not much to go on! Thanks so much!
