World War One / Establishing a date
« on: Wednesday 30 April 08 15:45 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone could give me a possible date of this photo please?  It's my grandfather who was in the Machine Gun Corps.  I am trying to establish how old he was when this was taken.

Many thanks

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / A question of Etiquette

Moderator Comment:
These replies have been split off from another topic, to form a seperate discussion.

The discussion started when a newbie restorer used some of Gadget's work to present another version.  This member has now removed her images and apologised to Gadget.

Please keep this discussion constructive.  The ideal aim is reach a consensus you can all live with. This will then be added to the "Restorers Etiquette" for all to see.

Some remarks which don't seem to "fit" here, are probably replies to the original topic

Canada / Can you help please?
« on: Thursday 05 April 07 18:34 BST (UK)  »
Both Martin  and Thomas OHARA, I have found out both emigrated to Canada.  Martin was born 1878 and Thomas in 1880.  I know for sure that they both emigrated after 1901 and Thomas was in the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force.

Is there any way of finding out when they exactly arrived in Canada?  If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.
