Hello
Would their be any Marriage Records available for New York in the 1850's?
I am looking for a Marriage (probably Catholic) for Michael Mulligan and Catherine Higgins both from Ireland. On the 1880 Census they say they were married in 1857. They had their first child Eliza in 1858 then John in 1860/1861.
They lived in New York since emigrating from Ireland around 1851.
Michael Mulligan's father was John.
I think Catherine Higgins's father will be Patrick.
Thank you

Mayo / Transport Strickland
« on: Wednesday 23 November 16 10:32 GMT (UK)  »
Hello
I have come across "Transport Strickland" on a Baptism for Dominick Higgins baptised on 8 November 1857 at Kilmovee RC Church. His father is James Higgins and his mother is Bridget Higgins. Sponsors are Patrick Higgins and Sabina Cafferky. At the end of the Baptism it states "Transport, Strickland" where the Townland usually is. What is "Transport, Strickland".
It is also mentioned on other Baptisms around the same time.
I obtained this information from the Kilmovee Baptisms-East Mayo

Down / ISABELLA WALSH of Ballycultra, Holywood, Down
« on: Thursday 21 October 10 11:59 BST (UK)  »
Hello
I am looking for more information on ISABELLA WALSH who was living at Ballycultra, Holywood, County Down in 1901 and 1911. In 1901 she is single aged 30 and living with her Aunt DOROTHEA McGIMPSEY (nee WOODSIDE) aged 78, her cousin ROBERT McGIMPSEY aged 14 and  DOROTHEA IRVINE aged 6, the Grand-daughter of Dorothea McGimpsey. In 1911 Isabella (Bella) Walsh now aged 47 is living with her Nephew ROBERT McGIMPSEY (spellled McGINSLY on Census). ISABELLA WALSH also appears as an Informant to the Death of HUGH WOODSIDE who died at Cultra in 1895 aged 77.
I am trying to find out if anyone has ISABELLA WALSH in their tree and how she is connected to DOROTHEA (WOODSIDE) McGIMPSEY & HUGH WOODSIDE.  She must have been born between 1864-1871 at Cultra.
Thanks

Renfrewshire / Cardwell Road, Gourock
« on: Thursday 26 August 10 00:21 BST (UK)  »
Hello
I have been looking for three addresses in Cardwell Road, Gourock on GOOGLEMAPS (Street View). The numbers are 1, 14 & 16.
In 1898 JAMES & MARGARET RENNIE lived in 1 Cardwell Road.
In 1901 JAMES & MARGARET had moved to 14 Cardwell Road and his parents WILLIAM JOHN & MARGARET and other members of the family were living at 16 Cardwell Road.
I have located 14 & 16 Cardwell Road in a huge grey building. No 1 appears to have been demolished but 11-23 are still there. These are 3 storey red brick houses. Can anyone tell me if these houses were there in 1898 and also if the grey building which houses 14 & 16 at present has been built since 1901.
Also we have an Elizabeth Rennie (wife of Daniel Rennie) who died on 1 May 1900 while living at 14 Cardwell Road Gourock. The Rennie's used St Bartholomew's Episcopal Church for a marriage. Does anyone know where Elizabeth could be buried?
Thanks

Lancashire Lookup Requests / 1881 UK CENSUS
« on: Sunday 08 August 10 02:31 BST (UK)  »
Hello
Can anyone find ANNIE ROCKLEY born 1834 in Liverpool England on the 1881 Census. She is a Widow.
I have tried all sorts of spellings for her surname but can't find her on Ancestry. I have tried the searches on a few other websites including Family Search but no luck. There is one ANNIE ROCKLEY in Lancashire on "The Genealogist" but I can't tell if she is in Liverpool or not and when I put in two different Birth Dates it still comes up as "one ANNIE ROCKLEY in Lancashire".
ROCKLEY was transcribed as ROCHLIF in 1871. Her son SAMUEL is living with her married daughter SARAH MOONEY in 1881 and he has been spelled SAMUEL ROCHLEY. They are at Kitchen Terrace, Clare Street, Liverpool. I have looked all up Clare Street on the Census and can't see any likely ANNIE ROCKLEY.
There should be a daughter ELLEN ROCKLEY born 1867 with ANN or ANNIE ROCKLEY in 1881.
In 1891 she is listed as ANNIE ROCKLEY at 35 Prince Edwin Street Everton and she has her grand-daughter ANNIE J MOONEY (my Grandmother) with her. ANNIE ROCKLEY's  daughter SARAH MOONEY is further down the street at no 39 Prince Edwin Street.
Can anyone help??

US Lookup Requests / CHARLES THOMAS HAGUE
« on: Friday 19 December 08 11:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hello
Can anyone find when CHARLES THOMAS HAGUE born 13 January 1865 in Liverpool England emigrated to LAWRENCE MASSACHUSETTS. He was living in Ashton-under-Lyne in 1881 and married EDITH ANNIE HAYES in LAWRENCE MASSACHUSETTS on 6th December 1890. EDITH ANNIE HAYES was living in Ashton-under-Lyne before she emigrated. They lived with Edith's parents in Lawrence Mass before going to Providence RI.
On the 1900 USA Census they were living in PROVIDENCE RHODE ISLAND and says he emigrated to USA in 1890.
I have checked 1910 1920 and 1930 Census and they each say 1890 except one which says 1889. Charles died in 1934.
I have found EDITH ANNIE HAYES on a ship in 1889 but have not been able to find CHARLES THOMAS HAGUE. EDITH'S surname was spelt HEYES.
His brother JOHN WILLIAM HAGUE emigrated in 1887 and sister MARY ELIZABETH NOKE (nee Hague) emigrated in 1889.
Thanks
Pat

Down / WOODSIDE's of CO DOWN
« on: Wednesday 03 December 08 10:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hello
My GG Grandfather was ISAAC WOODSIDE born about 1814, he had a brother JAMES born about 1812 and a brother HUGH born about 1817. I believe they came from Co Down and went to Liverpool England prior to 1841. Hugh may have returned to Ireland after 1861.
I am in contact with a desendant of JOHN WOODSIDE born Co Down in 1798 and I am trying to determine if this JOHN WOODSIDE is also a brother to ISAAC, JAMES & HUGH.
I know that JOHN WOODSIDE's daughter JANE WOODSIDE married a JAMES HOUSTON in Holywood Co Down on 8 August 1846 at 1st Holywood Presbyterian Church and they went with her parents and family to Liverpool England prior to 1851. JANE & JAMES HOUSTON had two sons JOHN born in Co Down about 1847/1848 and ISAAC born 1849/1850 in Liverpool England.
I also know that JOHN WOODSIDE's wife was ELIZABETH FLEMING and ISAAC WOODSIDE's wife was MARGARET DAVISON. JAMES WOODSIDE's wife was ELIZA ANDERSON.
Does anyone have WOODSIDE's from (Cultra) HOLYWOOD Co Down in their tree?
I want to find out if the 4 boys had any other brothers and sisters and who their parents were.
Regards
