Lanarkshire / Worlds End, Barony, Glasgow
« on: Saturday 05 May 18 14:46 BST (UK)  »
Could anyone please give me an idea where Worlds End Barony was (or is?) . I am tracing the homes of my gg grandfather who lived at number 23 World's End in 1851. I have tried looking at some old maps but my knowledge of the geography of Glasgow is so poor that I am getting  nowhere. Any help gratefully received!!  Barbara

Cheshire / King's School Chester during ww2
« on: Sunday 25 February 18 14:44 GMT (UK)  »
My brother attended King's School Chester briefly during ww2 . I wonder if anyone knows whether the school was still in the original buildings near the cathedral at this time or was it moved elsewhere before its final move to the Wrexham Road ?
I am making a collection of photos of places where he lived, went to school etc   I looked at the online school archive catalogue but couldn't work it out. Any help most welcome as I was born at the end of the war and we moved away soon after that,  so I have no memories from that time.

Northamptonshire / St John the Baptist Tiffield access
« on: Monday 31 July 17 15:20 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone know if there is a way to visit St John's Tiffield in mid week?  My daughter and I would like to see inside the church but we are aware that many village churches are locked up unless there is a service on. We are thinking of making a trip from Berkshire in August and it would be really helpful if we knew what to expect before we get there.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help please with this line from will
« on: Thursday 27 April 17 21:42 BST (UK)  »
I would be most grateful for help with this line from a will of 1648. Any of the line from after "houseroom lodgeings" to the next line up to "fitt for my degree"
I think I understand the general gist  but would very much like to know the exact wording.
Thank you for any input.

Barbara

The Common Room / Death Duty register index Help Please
« on: Saturday 01 April 17 22:02 BST (UK)  »
I have found the following information in the Death Duty Register Index on FindMyPast
Intestate 1815

Francis Kimber Admon Esther Kimber, Crowell Oxon       Vol 1 Folio 263

A long time ago, I found and looked up a will, but I remember I found it a very complicated procedure.
Before I embark on a long trip to Kew ( I no longer have a car) Can any one with experience, tell me what I am likely find (if anything) if the person is intestate?
