I found this photo behind another in a lovely frame - does anyone know who they might be? The photographers name has been cut from the picture. I had the frame given to me a while ago - I live in Crib Point (Hastings) Victoria Australia and don't know where the frame came from unfortunately.
There have been suggestions that this is a post mortem photo of one of the children but I don't think it is. Any ideas, date or identity please.
There is a small portion of the photographers 'logo' on the bottom of the picture which has been cut to fit the frame.
Thanks for looking. Di

Australia / ST AUGUSTINE'S LONGFORD CEMETERY TASMANIA
« on: Sunday 13 November 16 03:57 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All,

I am helping a friend try to locate five unmarked graves at the above cemetery for burials between 1925 and 1944.  We know they are there from the funeral notices in the - I think - Launceston newspapers - inserted by Hudsons Funeral Directors who are no longer in business.

This cemetery is still used for burials even thought they claim to have no records of where people are buried from this time frame.

Organisations contacted have been the Catholic Archives in Hobart, St Augustine's Parish Priest, Central Midlands Council, and Finney's Funeral Parlour in Longford who took over Hudsons Funeral Home.

The surname name of the deceased is Smith (LOL), firstnames names are, Catherine (mother of the following) (d.1925): Eliza (Elizabeth) (d.19??), Ted (Edward) (d.1944) Jack (John) (d.1944) plus one other in between Eliza and Ted.

I know this is a big ask but my friend is getting desperate/frustrated/turning into a shrew all because she cant find their graves.

Catherine is written up in Wikipedia site for Longford as possibly the last convict woman to die in Tas. She is also written up in "A drift of Derwent Ducks" by Trudy Cowley.

What other information is needed to make this job easier?

Thanks heaps.

Di and Kaye

Thanks so much for reading this post.

Hi all,

I have an elderly friend here in Victoria, who is trying to verify that an ancestral home at Mont Cochon, Parish of St. Helier Jersey Channel Islands has a (don't know what to call it) note that the land "could never be sold".

The property is:
Property name: Highland.
Address: Le Mont Cochon Road,  Mont Cochon  ( Translation = Mount Pig. )
Location: Approximately five eighths of a mile north of Victoria Avenue (A 2)
Current Residents: Removed by Moderator
Property size: Approximately 3 Hectares.  May be larger up to 6 Hectares

I have also posted this on the Channel Islands forum to no avail.

Is anyone able to help us?

Thanks,
Di

« on: Sunday 17 April 16 05:37 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

We have a trench art watch band with the following information engraved on it and we are unable to find any record of the name and service number on the watch band. We have tried the www.naa.gov.au website and the www.cwgc.gov.au bt to no avail.

Does anyone know where we might find the following information:
Name: W.A. Mannix
No. V246562

Other information on the band says Buna 1943 and Lae 1944.

Thanks for any help and advice.

Cheers Di & Darren
