New Zealand Completed Requests / The word deceased on birth certificates

During a debate in another genealogy group the question came up from a member as to why the word deceased was on the birth certificate she had purchased.This was found on BDM's Q&A's

Why does the word (Deceased) appear on a birth certificate?
If a death has been matched to a birth (Deceased) will print on a certificate. It does not show on a printout.

This may be to stop birth certificates being used for the wrong reasons

I emailed Hopes but their records don't go back that far.
