London and Middlesex / Winifred Florence Rogers died at sea
« on: Sunday 20 August 23 11:00 BST (UK)  »
dear all,
I have a mystery regarding the death of Winifred Florence Rogers (born Sully) She was born October 1902 in Hendon and married Charles John Rogers September 1928, Hendon.
I have her date of death as 06-07-1937 with mention of died at sea and also a burial date of 19-07-1937 at St. Mary's, Hendon. This is information from trees on Ancestry, unfortunately no one has replied to my inquiries.
How can I find more information regarding the events surrounding her death?
Newspaper records maybe? can anyone suggest other options. I shall look to order her death certificate but hope to exhaust all other possible options  ::)

London and Middlesex / Look up: Preston Road, Wembley.
« on: Thursday 25 May 23 13:17 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

would someone please look for George Frederick Rogers (c1879) and wife Ellen (c1880) in the 1921 census? I am expecting them to be on the Preston road, Wembley, and really curious as to their children living with them. This is because they seem to have 2 Nellie's born to them? one in 1903 and one in 1917. Maybe I'm just mixing things up  ::) but hope the 1921 census wil clear things up  ;D
kind regards

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Rate books
« on: Tuesday 14 December 21 21:47 GMT (UK)  »
dear all,

I read that that 'Rate books' are yearly records of the occupiers and owners of properties. Interesting  :D
My question(s) to experienced researchers are:
i. are there 'Rate books' available for Sudbury and what information do they reveal?
ii. are these 'Rate books' available to view (or is it a visit to Bury R.O.)?
iii. which period of time or years do these 'Rate books" cover? (Do they exist before 1841?)
All information gratefully received and I believe of interest to many other lesser experienced researchers  ;)
Seasons greetings  ;D

Suffolk / Parish records Sudbury
« on: Tuesday 16 February 21 12:41 GMT (UK)  »
Dear all,

Is it so that the only way to view the parish registers for all Saints, St. Gregory's and St. Peter's, Sudbury Suffolk is through the the Bury records office ? either by visiting the records office or by a request to the research service?
Are these Parish records available at any of the many free or pay to join sites (or anywhere else) where it is possible to search for particular entries by names, dates and so on?
best Wishes

Hi all,
does anyone know when the 1921 census will be released? I did hear that the government may not release it for some reason?

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / The Hyde Hendon history 1940/50's
« on: Wednesday 13 February 19 13:53 GMT (UK)  »
Dear all,
Can anyone please advise me where I can gain information over the Hyde, Hendon ? My father is writing some fantastic stories about this area, growing up in the 1940’s after the war. We need information about when the area was built up: the estate, the Welsh Harp, the swimming pool. Maps, photos, literature etc. He was born and lived on Goldsmith avenue/Hygrove avenue ? which I believe was just across from the swimming pool ? if its still there ?  Most of the (large) family stayed in the area until the 1980’s. Are there good web sites, books/literature we should be reading ?
Any help would be gratefully appreciated, many thanks in advance.
Kind regards.

Dear all,
In april of this year, I will be travelling over to England and am planning to visit either, Sudbury or Bury records office (for the first time).
My main question is which of these can I best visit ?
My main aim is to look for births, baptisms, marriages and deaths from the All saints and st Gregory's, Sudbury, registers from 1725 onwards.  (hopefully to obtain digital or paper copies)

I would very much appreciete any advice and/or tips.
Kind regards
Pete
