Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Annie Whitaker
« on: Monday 08 October 12 21:17 BST (UK)  »
I have been trying to help someone regarding the following but so far have been unlucky:

Annie was born on 17.6.1898 in Keighley.  Her parents were Thomas Whitaker and Rhoda Slapp.

On the 1911 Census she was living with her parents and was working as a Spinner.  She lived at 11 North View Street.

I cannot find anything on her after that time.  There were many marriages of a Annie Whitaker none of which seem to fit.  I have also looked for a death but nothing seems to be correct.

Can anyone help on this one?

Many thanks.

Hoppity.

Oxfordshire / Ernest Evans George Vickers
« on: Tuesday 14 December 10 20:00 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find the birth or baptism of Ernest Vickers.

According to the 1901 Census he was born c. 1896 in Henley On Thames, Oxfordshire.  His father was Frederick Vickers born c. 1872 Maidenhead, and his mother Louisa Ann Evans born c. 1866 Wokingham.

On his son's (George Ernest Vickers) birth certificate his name was given as George Ernest Vickers.  On his death certificate his name was given as Ernest George Vickers.

Ernest's wife was Eliza Sophia Jenkins.

Him and his family are on the 1901 and 1911 census and I have found most of his childrens births but I just cannot find his!

In 1918 he was a Pte in the 47th Batt. M.G.C. but I cannot find any records relating to him that gives his birth!

I have sent for quite a few birth certificates for around 1896 but to date none of them have been the right one!

I was wondering if anyone could possibly find him on the Parish Records.
 :'(

Thank you for your help.

Kind regards, Pauline

Kent Lookup Requests / George William Sutton
« on: Wednesday 01 December 10 12:48 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone can help.

I have a George William Sutton born 12.8.1868 in Graveney, Kent.  His father was William Thomas Sutton and his mother Eliza Pilcher.  His mother and father lived in Canterbury in 1901.

He was on the Royal Naval Vessel "Wildfire" in 1901, in Sheerness. He was a leading stoker.

I am trying to find out his death or his marriage, or any details about him.

Is there anywhere where I can find out about his Navy background?

Any help would be appreciated.

Best Wishes, Pauline

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Hugh Lewis Kennedy
« on: Sunday 16 May 10 15:10 BST (UK)  »
Someone kindly found me Hugh Kennedy and his family on the 1911 census.  Only I have a query on a bit of the information which perhaps someone might me able to help me with.

On Hugh Kennedy's birth place it said "Asfr N B" then "resident" next to it.  Does anyone know what "Asfr N B" means?

Thank you.

Kind regards Pauline

Australia Lookups completed / Ernest Evans George VICKERS
« on: Tuesday 23 March 10 20:30 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if any of you can help me.

Thanks to the help from the kind people on the War section of this site I have managed to find his wife's death and birth, his parents marriage, and his birth, 1895 Whitchurch S., Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire, UK, where he was registered as Ernest Evans, being illigitimate.  Also a lot of information from the UK censuses.

However after an extensive search I have not been able to find his death.  Can you help at all.

According to my very elderly sister, who lives near Melbourne, she thinks he died in Australia around 2000 while he was living with another family but cannot remember any more than that??

His wife Eliza Sophia Jenkins died in Hatfield, Herts, England in 1972, so why Ernest was in Australia I do not know.

At the time of his marriage in 1918 he was serving in the army.

Can anyone shed any light on this at all.

Thank you for your time.

Kind regards, Pauline  ???

I am looking for the above.  Unfortunately I havent got much information on him as yet.

He was born around 1896.  According to his marriage certificate, where he married Eliza Sophia Jenkins on 10/8/1918 in Welwyn, Hertfordshire, he was serving in the Pte 47th Bat. MGC.

I cannot find no trace of him on the births GRO's nor a death.  I was wondering whether I could find some information about him from his war records.

His father was Frederick Vickers.

Can anyone help.

Thank you.

Kind regards, Pauline
