when my grandfather was born his birth cert had a father on it but I have never found a marriage
and he was born 1890 by 1891 census his mother had reverted to her maiden name and so his as well.
she had 2 more children using her 2nd name and giving a father as George+ her maiden name father was always put as a Master Baker no man ever appeared on any census or electoral roll.
When I did a DNA test the name on my grandfathers certificate turned up he was also a master baker
came from Devon like my Great Gran and was married.
I feel this is probably him but dont want to upset anyone and just knowing is really enough for me and none of the matches have been in touch so do you think its best to just be happy with knowing
think I have probably answered my own question writing this ::)

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / James Hextall Sneinton help with his birth please
« on: Thursday 11 September 14 22:44 BST (UK)  »
I am at present doing my friends tree, some of her family are from Nottinghamshire and some from Ireland...........I thought Ireland would be hard but no found all easily but Nottingham is proving very difficult.

Her father was James Hextall born 1926 sent for birth and found parents James Hextall and Hilda Amanda Clarke. After searching in Vain I sent for their marriage cert which turned out to have James name down as Exall!
11 Apr 1925 James Exall 24years Engineer fitter father James Exall iron turner
 Register office Nottingham.
searched all over for a birth but nothing then I found his service record on FindMyPast which said date of birth 6th April 1901 Sneiton Nottingham...........I have scoured GRO records for the 2nd qtr and FindMyPast and Ancestry no sign .....cant find him in 1911 either on his RAF records it says
his mother is Mrs Emma Hextall......34 Moody street, Carlton Rd, Nottingham
 cant find her either!!!!!!!!!
Hilda Amanda Clarke has been easier to research but James seems to be invisable
