Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / John Bunyan Parsonage 1850 - 1928
« on: Monday 04 March 24 18:10 GMT (UK)  »
The older photograph is from a bundle of Parsonage documents inherited from John Bunyan Parsonage's son Geoffrey 1897 - 1994. Can it please be dated and confirm if it is someone who was born in 1850?

I also have a picture from an ancestry tree, confirmed to be J B Parsonage in later life; do you think it is the same man.?

Thanks.

Yorkshire (North Riding) / Elizabeth Cummins b 1797 Bolton upon Swale
« on: Saturday 24 February 24 16:38 GMT (UK)  »
Family search has the baptism of an Elizabeth Cummins on 21 Dec 1797 at Bolton upon Swale, parents George and Harriot Cummins.

Could she be the Eliza Cummins buried in 1823 aged 28 in Kirk Leatham? This Eliza lived in Yearby.

I am helping someone in Australia who is trying to identify an Eliza Cummin[g]s said to have been born in Yorkshire who married John Dunnon/Durron in Van Diemen's Land in 1825 aged 30 [so born ca 1795]. In a later documentsshe stated she was a free settler - ie not a convict.

There was a Miss E Cummings on the 'Hope' which arrived at Hobart in April 1824.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this 1797 Elizabeth d/o George & Harriot which could confirm or exclude her being the woman buried in 1823 or the woman in Tasmania?

Thanks for any help

I have an ancestor John Clegg 1799 - 1859 who was a grocer/shopkeeper/clothier in Soothill.
1841 Piece 1268 Book 14 Folio 19 Page 3
1851 Piece 2325 Folio   146 Page number 7
Living at Commonside Earlsheaton both censuses.

Does anyone know how I can find out where the shop was, any photographs of Soothill first half of 19th century, how long John had it & who took over after he died?

I have located Rates books for Dewsbury and Thornhill which I will try to get to see sometime at WYAS in Huddersfield. However Soothill only goes from 1910 - where would it be before that?
