Hertfordshire / John REYNOLDS - Where do I go from here?
« on: Saturday 13 September 08 22:57 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone please help me get anywhere else with my John Reynolds?

I have John Reynolds married Frances Matchet (Matchett or Machet depending on which spelling they are using) 12th November 1804 Saint Michael's, Bishop Stortford.  Frances was one of 3 children of Lincoln Matchet and was baptised in Norfolk 9th June 1776.  Frances and John have turned up again on baptism records for their son John Lincoln Reynolds and daughter Hannah Maria.  Frances again in 1841 in Uxbridge living with John Lincoln and his family but can't find anything about John at all.  Don't know how old he was, where he was born or when and where he died.  I gather that as Frances was with her son on 1841 that he may have died by then.

Has anyone got any suggestions about where to go next or is it just a dead trail?

Cheers
Tina

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Lincoln Matchett - Ellingham
« on: Sunday 09 December 07 16:13 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Does anyone have any info on Lincoln Matchett?

In 1772 he was the miller at Ellingham watermill and he had 3 daughters all born in Norfolk and his wife's name would appear to be Elizabeth.  Try as I might I don't seem to be able to find him appearing anywhere else.  His daughter Frances married in Bishop Stortford, Herts in 1804.

Did he originate from Norfolk, did he marry in Norfolk, were there any other Matchett's in Ellingham at the same time as him?

Any help would be very much appreciated,
Many thanks

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1841 and 1851 - JEFFRIES REYNOLDS
« on: Monday 03 December 07 16:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all
Would it be possible for someone to find Jeffries Reynolds on the 1841 and/or the 1851 census please?

I have got him on the later ones after he married Harriet More Bridges as being in Cheshunt Herts but haven't managed to track him down before that.  He was born in Bayswater Middlesex sometime between 1835 and 1837 depending on which age he gives, and was a boot maker/shoe repairer.  I would also like Harriet before they married too if anyone should manage to find her?

I have no idea of either of their siblings or parents so any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks
Tina

Norfolk / WARHAM ALL SAINTS do you live nearby?
« on: Friday 06 July 07 10:10 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone live near Warham All Saints?  I wondered if it would be possible for someone in the vicinity of All Saints cemetery to have a quick look for my Grandfather please, is there a legible gravestone?  He was buried in 1969 and I have the newspaper cutting so it was definitely this church.
John Edward Steward born 22nd April 1900
Any help would be gratefully received.
Many thanks

Armed Forces / Which Scottish Regiment?
« on: Tuesday 24 April 07 11:36 BST (UK)  »
These 2 pics are of my Great Grandfather Thomas Galbraith 1883-1914 he died aged 30 from pneumonia.  Does anyone have any idea which regiment this could have been from these rather obscure photocopies?  The picture of him in the kilt has South Africa Gold field written on the back and in the group photo he is on the far left.   He is missing from the 1901 census, so I gather may have been at the Boer war at that time.  Although he was born in Hammersmith his Father, also Thomas Galbraith, was born in Duns in 1854.  Any help with regards to his time in the army would be gratefully received.
Many thanks

Berkshire Lookup Requests / 1891,1901 lookups please-Albert Edward Reynolds
« on: Saturday 24 February 07 14:23 GMT (UK)  »
Could someone please spare the time to look up Albert Edward Reynolds for me on the 1891 and 1901?
He was born in Cheshunt 1872 and married Fanny Humphrey in Reigate 1892.  They had 5 children between 1893 and 1900 (Henry Jeffries Reynolds being my Husband's Grandfather) but he wasn't living with them on the 1901. Fanny and the children were in Outwood Surrey.  A few of his brothers and his Father, Jeffries Reynolds, were Boot/Shoe Makers.  There is an Albert Edward Reynolds in St Marys Reading on the 1891 and 1901 and also a death in 1939 with the same age he would have been.
Could you please let me know who else was at the same address?

Many thanks
Tina Steward Reynolds
