Hi hoping someone can help, I am trying to locate the burial or cremation records for my great grandad and great nan, my amazing mum was the genealogist of the family but sadly passed away two years ago, I am looking to find where my great grandparents are as I know my mum would like to be with them! My mum has done so much with our family history but I am really struggling to pin point these two, Robert died in Aug 1990 and Maud died in dec 1987, I have got the gilroes index and can see that Roberts parents are there Robert 1933 and Emma 1929 but am at a loss as to where to look as I was too young to go to the funeral so cannot remember if they were buried or cremated? Any help would be really great.

The Stay Safe Board / Subtle changes in Hospital Admissions
« on: Wednesday 02 September 20 02:02 BST (UK)  »
Anyone else noticed

that the admissions are becoming less..

and the actual hands on Docs -- regarding examinations -- how can you virtually check what the pain is..

i dont want to fill a page with what I saw at the Hospital yesterday..

but the corridors are dark and the wards are empty... triage is as was full.. but most being sent home with pills.. and a letter of referal to who knows what or when..

Pre - Pandemic ----- Pain --- Triage --- checked -- tested --- sent to ward for further checks and tests.. and then either sorted... fixed or home with pills  Now.. seem to skip the middle bit.

oops Subtle not suttle    technology beat me on that one :(

Warwickshire / Wilks /es of Warwickshire
« on: Friday 03 July 20 09:18 BST (UK)  »
Attempting to add more to my Wilks line :)

what I have so far is:

Alice Wilks was born c....  1735  Wellesbourne Warks

she married John Clark/e my direct line.. he was born  c 1735.

so I need to find if Alice Wilks is the correct lady that married John   around 1757   as she lives in Sherbourne ??  which is a little way away.... maybe

and then I have her Parents as:  Joseph Wilks and Ann Stanley...

now I am not convinced of any of this.... so would appreciate if anyone has other opines'  :) :) :) ha ha

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / uhm comprehension help please
« on: Monday 22 June 20 16:05 BST (UK)  »
The phrasing of this doc is confusing or is it me :)

not sure if I can add whole doc.. so will add the part that is confusing :)  for other opinions please.

Now:

 I think it says:

I Obliquely???? publish  the intention of marriage between John Tilley son of An Gilbert of Smeeton Westerby  Widdow and Mary Wood daughter of William Wood of Fleckney  etc etc etc....

So

is John Tilley the SON of An Gilbert?  the widow I presume of a Mr Gilbert but maybe previously married to a Mr Tilley   or am I presuming too much there.

this is in the year 1699

will add a snippet

The Common Room / Ancestry kicking out ridiculous hints.
« on: Tuesday 16 June 20 14:11 BST (UK)  »
Is it me?

I just opened up for todays research --- after yesterday finding so many errors in the comparisons (hints) offered.. that I gave up.. And worked diligently by my own means.. with three search engines on the go at once... :) (love it)---

so my research today -- I decided to attempt a lady I had not completed some years back due to lack of info or records.

The first search on Ancestry was ridiculous... not sure if allowed to show an image.. etc ... so will type it:

My search is for:

Elizabeth Colborn bn abt 1696 Groby Leicestershire

She marries Nathaniel Hook from Anstey bn abt 1686.

I have her father as George Colborn...... No mother found as yet ---

so click on and ask for a general search on Ancestry... this is what they offered.

1st result --- as always these days is 'MATCHING PERSON' from family trees.............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

they have :

Mary Hibbs
Hook family tree

Spouse James Hook
Father George Hibbs
Mother Emily Hibbs

BORN 1843 Mangotsfield Gloucestershire England...

(so far this one not sent to USA)    whoops
most of the rest of the records offered for her are ridiculous as are in the USA

Before you say it...

I have written LEICESTERSHIRE ENGLAND UK in the search engine and no mention of USA   + the dates are way out...

this is happening all the time now...

WHY?????

anyone know a decent one that minds its own business!! in the background.
