Hi,

Would it be possible to lighten the background please so that I do not look like I'm just a floating head  ;D Sorry but the original photo quality isn't brilliant to say the least.
Many many thanks

World War One / Photo taken in India WW1?
« on: Saturday 12 January 08 17:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm trying to confirm if this photo was taken in India during WW1. I have no regiment details, all I know is that the gentleman on the left is my great uncle Philip McConnell born 1896 and he was living in Staffordshire when the War started. I have found 4 medal cards but none are for a Staffs regiment. Not sure if anyone can help with so few details?
Thanks
Zoe

The Lighter Side / Question that keeps me awake at night
« on: Tuesday 08 January 08 18:40 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

One of the (many) questions that keeps me awake at night is:

If I could meet one of my ancestors who would it be?

Well I think I have finally decided that it would be my gg grandmother. She wasn't famous or had an exciting occuption or anything like that but I would like to ask her what it was like to have all those children (including triplets), how did they manage? how dd she feel about all the changes that would have been happenng around her and around the world during her life time, things like that really. I think one of the reasons that I choose her is that I have photos, so (rightly or wrongly) knowing what she looked like seems to have made her more 'real' to me I suppose.

Who would you choose?  :D

World War Two / WW2 medal found in Coventry UPDATE
« on: Monday 07 January 08 21:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

I have also put this post in the Warwickshire board. A WW2 APR medal, photo of WW1 soldier, demob certificate and ID card have been found in the Coventry War Memorial Park, they all belonged to a Private Patrick Bennett of the Royal Irish Fusiliers. More details can be found here:

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,277415.0.html

They are trying to trace the owner and as I know people on RC like a good mystery to get their teeth into I thought it maybe of interest and it would be great to trace the people who lost it.

Warwickshire / LOST War Medal found in Coventry UPDATE
« on: Monday 07 January 08 19:17 GMT (UK)  »
There is an article in todays Coventry Evening telegraph concerning a war medal which was found the War Memorial Park after the remembrance parade, so I thought I would also put some of the info on here in the hope that it will be claimed:

The WW2 Air Raid Precautions (APR) medal was found along with a photo of a WW1 soldier, demob certificate and ID card. The soldier was Private Patrick Bennett of the Royal Irish Fusiliersn who was born in 1880.

There is a contact phone number (which i will give if you PM me) - not sure what the rules on putting up telephone numbers are?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if records are kept for people taking their first communion or confirmation? If so where would they likely to be kept - at the relevant church?

Thank you
