Berkshire / Richard Wealing - m Susannah Cullum (or Parrott & Fisher) Berks
« on: Thursday 21 December 23 05:30 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all and greetings for xmas.

I have a problem I hope someone can help un-tangle. In my tree I have a Susannah Fisher who is linked to Richard Parrott but when they married in 1806 in Nth Moreton, Berks,  Richard is recorded as Wealing & Susannah as Cullum which is why the children have the Wealing name.  Seven (7) children are  baptised there  (1807,10,12,14,16,19,21)  They then move to Brightwalton, Berks and have another 3 children but with the surname of Parrott - parents being Richard & Susan.
but why the change in surnames in Brightwalton?

In following up the marriages of some of the dtrs they are all recorded as  "Parrott" and born in Nth Moreton
under the "Wealing" name.

Is anyone able to offer some reason why change in names, please?

I have found a burial for a Richard Parrott (alias Wayling) 1885 in Brightwalton so there must be some past history as to why the name changes. No Wealing burials in either parish (Nth.Moreton or Brightwalton)

Berkshire / elizabeth goodall b.1793c Streatley, Berks
« on: Tuesday 12 December 23 04:43 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,
I'm looking for an Elizabeth Goodall (marr. Wm.Blackford 1815 Strealey) bapt. about 1793-5.

In the 1841,51 & 61 censuses she lists Streatley as her place of birt/bapt.

I can't find her using F/Search, Anc..y or FreeReg.
The nearest I can find is an Elizabeth Goodall bapt 1789 in East Hendred some distance from Streatley.

Thanks in advance for any help.

« on: Sunday 15 October 23 03:17 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I have found a marriage for Samuel Killett to a Elizabeth Turner in 1704 in Caistor next by sea.

It says that Samuel is from the parish of "Gorlyton" as per the attached screenshot.

I am unable to locate this parish and I wonder if anyone is able to help. It looks clearly written.

Suffolk / William Goymer - m - Susannah Bradbrook 1735 Somersham, Suffolk
« on: Saturday 30 September 23 11:14 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

In my tree I have a William Goymer - m - Susannah Bradbrook in 1735 Somersham, Suffolk. This was taken from an "extracted marriage record for the locality listed" on F/Search in  2011.

There is no date listed and only today I searched  again on F/Search only to find similar info - no date.

I have the marriage CD from the Suffolk FHS for  Bosmere Deanery (which covers Somersham) but nowhere is this marriage listed.

Would anyone be able to throw some light on how this could be an extracted marriage entry yet does not show in the Suffolk transcripts?

Your help will be most welcome.

Berkshire Lookup Requests / John Winterburn - m - Jane ?? about 1795
« on: Monday 18 September 23 12:02 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

Am looking for help for a marriage of John Winterburn (+ variants) to a Jane ?? about 1795 in Berks.
They had at least 6 children all bapt.. in Abingdon St.Helens starting in 1798 to 1807. John was cordwainer.

At the moment I have a similar couple (John & Jane - both lodgers) marrying in Binsey, Oxon in 1788. and have their children mostly baptised in Culham Oxon (from 1789 to 1806).  To  complicate matters John was also a Shoemaker.

It may be they married in Oxon.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Suffolk / children of John Spall & Eleanor (nee Browes) - Debenham
« on: Friday 11 August 23 00:54 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I'm having problems in finding baptisms for the children of John Spall & Eleanor (nee Browes).

John & Eleanor married in Debenham 8-9-1843 and had the following children;

Emily              born 20-11-1843
Arthur                "    23-5-1846
Mary Ann           "   15-2-1851
Charles              "   17-4-1849 (bapt. 23-4-1854 Debenham)

I have the transcripts for Debenham (ex Suffolk FHS) and apart from Charles none of the others appear.

I'm wondering if they could have been bapt. in a non-conformist  chapel but these records I can't seem to find anywhere. Iv'e looked on And...y.  F/Search and FindMyPast without success.
Can anyone please give some ideas where I can search, please?

I have the birth certs. for all of the above.

Many thanks in advance.
