Does anyone know where to begin if I wanted to find records of certain pubs and when they changed names?

Canada / Looking for Alice R. Lindsell
« on: Monday 02 October 17 14:00 BST (UK)  »
Looking for any records at all for my great Aunt Alice R. Lindsell (b. Morpeth, Durham England 1929).

The last record I can find for her is on the passenger lists, she left Southampton, UK 20th Jan 1950 and arrived in New York on 26th Jan 1950, stating on transit to Canada.

Any help on what happened to her after that is greatly appreciated  ;D

Canada Lookup Request / Looking for Alice Lindsell
« on: Monday 22 May 17 13:47 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm trying to locate any records on my Grandads sister Alice R Lindsell (middle name possibly Reavely).

The last record I have of her was arriving in New York on 26 Jan 1950 from Southampton UK. The arrival record states 'In transit to Canada'. She was 21 (born 1929).

I heard she married but have been unable to find any records.

Any help gratefully appreciated  ;D

Cheers, Mark.

Pembrokeshire Lookup Requests / Looking for more info on Joseph Marasco
« on: Monday 15 June 15 13:22 BST (UK)  »
Hi ;D

I'm trying to find more on Joseph (possibly Giuseppe) Marasco. The only info I have is on his two sons baptism records. Antonio Marasco baptised 25th May 1890 and David Thomas Marasco baptised 12th June 1892, both at St Dogmael's, Pembrokeshire. He is listed as a Mariner so guessing he was at sea a lot!

He doesn't appear on the 1891 census, his wife was Sarah Anne James (born 1869) so would like to see if there is a marriage records. Sarah remarried in 1896, so under the assumption Joseph died at sea or abroad as I can't find a death record.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

The Lighter Side / What do you add to your family tree for future generations?
« on: Friday 15 August 14 16:21 BST (UK)  »
Researching ancestors is always fun but it's great to find all the personal details about someone that have been lost with time. A few things I'm going to add to the family tree to pass on are:

Nicknames
Pets they owned
Sports teams they supported
Songs played at their funeral / First dance wedding songs
Vehicles they owned

Any more ideas?

Essex / Baptism look up - Abrehart & Tuck, Epping
« on: Thursday 23 January 14 14:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hi  :)

I've possibly found my long lost 5x Great Grandparents. A few people have been searching for a few years for their origins!

All I've known was they were Richard and Sarah Abrahart. They unfortunately died just before the 1851 census so I couldn't find their place of birth. They were living in Edmonton, Middlesex on the 1841 and just stated not born in County.

I've finally found a marriage for a Richard Arbrahatch (should be Abrahart) to a Sarah Tuck, 1st July 1811 in Chingford. This was 2 months before their first was born in Edmonton so assume they moved there for some reason.

I've checked the 1851 census and there's a couple of Abrahart families that are in Middlesex, originally born in Epping.

Could anyone please see if there are any baptisms in Epping (possibly) for Richard Abrahart around 1784 and Sarah tuck around 1785?

Many thanks  ;D

I made this googlemap for my history group and thought it might be of interest to some.

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=211577995063690032433.0004e08748e96d19c79fb&msa=0

The map shows the past and present pubs of the area, still work in progress, soon hope to have all the pinpoints showing pictures and history info. The green pinpoints are current pubs, yellow are pubs which are no longer but the building still remains, and red are demolished.

Surrey / Beddington Corner Football Club
« on: Monday 20 May 13 15:50 BST (UK)  »
Thought I'd share this pic, originally scanned from a cigarette card I got on ebay, think It's around mid 1930's (larger scans can be seen here http://www.flickr.com/photos/40120214@N02/8741547127/sizes/l/in/photostream/).

I saw the name W. Adaway and bought it knowing my Great Grandfather lived in Beddington Corner (now known as Mitcham Junction) and when I scanned it in and enlarged it I could clearly see it was him! (bottom row, second from right).
