dau Rachel b?? High Ham appears on the 1841 census  - a possible marriage to a John Barnard in 1846 (where does he fit in??) and no further info
son Thomas b1827 - he appears on 1841 and 1851 and then drops off the radar
son John Barnard Traves b1830 as above
dau Mary b1821 - I have managed to find all her information.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Kent / Dryland family of Hinxhill, Kent
« on: Tuesday 31 March 15 14:20 BST (UK)  »
Good afternoon
I am researching the children of William Dryland b1807 Hinxhill and his wife Sarah Godden-Smith b1805 Wye (maiden name Godden).

I have Ann Dryland b?1837 Hinxhill.  Have her on census 1841 with her parents but then nothing!

Frances Dryland b1833 Hinxhill.  She is on census as having married a Charles Dunkin but I cannot find any marriage for them.

Margaret Dryland b1837 Hinxhill.  I have three possible marriages for her - a William Pilcher in 1858 Hinxhill, a John Whitewood in 1853 Hinxhill and Daniel Austen Pay 1854 Wye.  To Whom did she marry?   ???

I just wondered if anyone could help me with these three to start with.  Many thanks for all your continuing help.

The Common Room / Ellen Gaunt b1832
« on: Friday 16 January 15 11:20 GMT (UK)  »
Good morning - had to put this in the Common Room and unsure where else to put it!

I am struggling with Ellen Gaunt b1832 Abbots Ripton, Hunts.  I have her on the 1841 census.  I then think she married in 1849 Huntingdon to a William Holyoak b 1815, Warwickshire.

She appears on the 1851 census in Lincolnshire with William and a son George b1850 Hunts.

I have found her (?) again in 1871 with a John Holyoak b1831 Willenhall, staffs, with a son Thomas b1868 Willenhall, staffs.

Then...oh dear...I think she may have married again to a John Vasey in 1889, Willenhall, Staffs.

Can anyone help me as I can't find a death for William, marriage to a John or census for 1861, 1881 that may have helped me further unravel this complex lady!

With many thanks

The Common Room / Cope/Mortimore
« on: Saturday 18 October 14 14:51 BST (UK)  »
Help is desperately wanted please - banging my head on the proverbial brickwall!

Information I have is:
Jemima Mortimore b1828 Bray, Berkshire (dau of Joseph Mortimore and Jane Clark) had a liaison with a James Cope b 1811 Cholsey, Berkshire. They appear together in 1861 in Portsmouth, 1871 in Portsmouth.

James Cope dies in 1879 (Portsmouth).

My dilemma, hence putting this query in the Common Room - I cannot find anything further on Jemima Mortimore after 1871.  I have information that she is supposed to have died on 28th December 1900 in Bedfont, Middlesex (from my late mother).

I have tried searching as Jemima Cope, Jemima Mortimore.

Also, sorry about this.....James Cope was married to an Amelia Godley b1811 Hambledon, Surrey before he took up with Jemima.  I cannot find any further info about her either (death etc)!

James and Jemima had a daughter Lucy (James named her as his daughter in his will) - she can be found as either Lucy Cope or Lucy Mortimore.  I know that Lucy married and am ok on her (for the time being) - having previously used Rootschat to solve some mysteries relating to her!

Any help would be much appreciated.  With many thanks......Loupy

Cambridgeshire / William Wright
« on: Saturday 23 August 14 16:53 BST (UK)  »
Good afternoon
I am struggling to find the mother of William Wright b 10 Mar 1843 in March, Camb - he died 16 Jul 1894 in Lambeth, London.  (I was told by my mother before her death that his name was William Mason Wright but I not sure if this is correct or not).

I have his father as being John Wright b1825 Wolsoken, Cambs and his mother Mary ?? (Taken from 1861 and 1871 census).

If, and I say If, I have got things right he has siblings, John b1855, Sarah b1857, Ann b1859, George b1863, James b1867 and Joseph b1871.  With the 12 year difference in births it makes me wonder if Mary ??? was John's second wife.

All the siblings were born in March, Cambs and apart from 1861 census I cannot find any further info on them.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Kent / Ellen Louisa George
« on: Tuesday 12 August 14 09:36 BST (UK)  »
Good morning
I have Ellen Louisa George b1876 Wittersham, Kent in my tree. (Parents Edward George and Louisa Addy)  I have 1881, 1891 and 1901 census for her.  I "googled" and found a possible husband - Thomas Gillespie and possible son Geoffrey Gillespie but....silly me.....didn't make a note of where I found this information.

I cannot find 1911 census, when/where Ellen married Thomas, Thomas date of birth (I believe he was born in Scotland) or Geoffrey's date/place of birth etc.

I have found Ellen's death in 1952 Folkestone as Ellen Louisa Gillespie.

Any help to unravel this would be much appreciated.

Somerset / Elisha Taylor - High Ham, Somerset
« on: Friday 06 June 14 16:59 BST (UK)  »
Good afternoon - Elisha Taylor born 1837 High Ham, Somerset - son of Lucy Wallis and James Taylor.

I have found census 1841, 1851 and 1861.  1871 census states he is married but there is no wife on the census.  The only marriage I can find is 1867 Longport, Somerset to a Jemima Banfield.  Where is she in 1871?  Then the1881 census states he is married to an Elizabeth and there are children (? hers or Jemimas?)

My dilemma - If he married Jemima what happened to her as I cannot find anything.  Secondly I cannot find a further marriage to Elizabeth.

Any help would be appreciated.

With many thanks

Loupy
