Herefordshire Lookup Requests / Is this the right board for Presteigne in 1871?
« on: Sunday 09 January 11 21:34 GMT (UK)  »
I hope so because I've had no replies to my post in the Radnorshire board!!

I've got a Sarah Ann Rogers b1862 Q4 in Presteigne according to FreeBMD, but which shows as Old Radnor in some records. This is as much as I know until 1881 when she's working as a domestic servant with another family in 1881.

Would SKS be good enough to look her up in the 1871 Herefordshire Census for me please? I'm desperate to find the rest of her family but can't wait for the certificate to arrive (it's on its way!).

Many thanks in advance
Clive

I've got an Amy Jane Evans born in Q2 1899 in Pontypridd and don't know any more until her marriage.

Can anyone please find her for me in the 1901 Census so I can establish her parents and siblings names?

Many thanks & Happy New Year!!

Hi

I'd be grateful if someone could look for Mary Maud Thomas (born Q1 1901) in the 1901 Glamorgan Census for me.

According to my research so far, she will have a sister Elsie May who was 3yrs older. I'm particularly looking for her parents details so I can step back.

Many thanks for helping.

Cheers

Hi

I'm looking for information on the marriage in Q3 1879 of Benjamin Harris & Emily Craze, which according to freebmd, took place in Merthyr Tydfil.

I'm particularly interested in the the name & occupation of Benjamins father, although obviously any information will be gratefully received! I'll be sending for the certificate shortly but can't wait til then!!!

Many thanks

Glamorganshire / Evan John James from Cilfynydd, nr Pontypridd
« on: Tuesday 03 August 10 13:37 BST (UK)  »
I wonder whether anyone would be kind enough to help me trace Evan.

All I know at present is that he was born circa 1911, he had a sister called Martha, and he worked at a coal mine in Senghenydd. He joined the British Army & spent 4 years in a Japanese POW camp before settling back in Sussex to raise his family.

He's not a member of my family - I'm making tentative enquiries on behalf of a friend...

Many thanks in advance.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1861 Census Look-up please..

Would someone be good enough to look for John Valentine in the 1861 Census?

He was born in 1825 in Germany, is listed as a commercial traveller, and was living in E London (Mile End Old Town, Shoreditch, etc.) and I suspect he would have been living with the wife he married on 8th Jan 1860 at Shoreditch St Leonards - another record I'm trying to retrieve.

Many thanks in advance.

For Sale / Wanted / Events / For sale - Mortgage Agreement Southall/Fencott
« on: Sunday 10 May 09 19:30 BST (UK)  »
I have come across a document relating to a John Southall of Eye, Herefordshire. Another name mentioned on the document is James Fencott of Leominster.

The item, dated 1827, is handwritten across two pages each measuring about 3ft x 3ft folded 4 times so as to measure about 1ft x 1ft.

I found it for sale at £40, acquired it for £25 and am willing to sell it for £30 including recorded delivery mail to a UK address.

Europe / Germany - Kassel, Valentine (Valentin?)
« on: Thursday 09 April 09 13:09 BST (UK)  »
I'm searching for John Valentine. He shows on the 1871 & 1881 UK Census as living in London. His birthplace is given as Kassel, Hessen. His year of birth is given as 1824 (suspect as with all census ages!) and he's a widower. His occupation is given as tailor.

I know absolutely nothing about his birth, marriage/wife's name or when he moved to the UK. Is there someone who has information that might be relevant & would be good enough to take a look for me?

He did have a child born in London in 1862, but I don't know enough about the birth to be able to order a certificate. Yet ;-)

Many thanks
Clive
