Lanarkshire / *COMPLETED* Barnhill Poorhouse Admission Record
« on: Wednesday 18 September 13 09:38 BST (UK)  »

Today I found a death of a rellie who died in the Barnhill Poorhouse in 1917, the bonus was the informant was a niece, but none the wiser as I don't know yet who they belong to. :D

What information would be available on the Admission Record, especially if the deceased wasn't married, and would it include sibling's families?

The last Admission Record to a Poorhouse I received was for 1867 and was just wondering if it is worthwhile to ask the Mitchell Library for the Record and would I be any the wiser?

The next time someone is going to archives, would they be so kind to get a probate for me?

Technical Help / Printer sharing not Printing (COMPLETED)
« on: Tuesday 09 April 13 06:23 BST (UK)  »

I have had no problems with sharing my old lappy with the PC Printer in the past. ;D

That is ..... until it went to "Lap Top Heaven" and my new lappy doesn't like the set up. :(   It seems to be set up right, as I have the two little people showing.

The problem starts when I go to print from the lap top (yes, the PC and printer are on), the print jobs end up in queue, sometimes they can be cancelled, and sometimes not, depends on the mood of the printer ;D  and end up with a little yellow triangle then have to click on troubleshoot.

I am guessing it has something to do with the printer spooler or something :-\

PC is Windows 7 HP Omni 100
Lap Top is Windows 7 Pavilion g6
Printer Epson TX210

Any help in simple terms would be appreciated.

EDITED:   I am also wireless, having a satellite on the roof, but this was never a problem with the last print sharing.

Hi :D

Today I found that a rellie from my Irish tree came over here and settled.   8)

If SKS has a spare slot on their Archives card would they please photograph the Probate for me.?   I will need to PM the link, as I suspect there is at least one issue still living.

Dunbartonshire / Family doesn't appear after 1851 Census *COMPLETED*
« on: Monday 25 February 13 08:31 GMT (UK)  »

I have been getting a few leap frogs with finding family on the Census.

But the one below I can not find them after the 1851 census.   Either they moved or the Head of the family died and wife remarried.

John Adam, born 1824 in Kirkintilloch, Dunbarton .... Baker ...... Glasgow, St John's, (fits in with other family members)

Elizabeth Adam, born about 1821, Glasgow ...... wife

Isabella Adam, born abt 1848 Glasgow ... daughter

Jessie Adam, born abt 1848 Glasgow ..... daughter

Thomas Adam, born abt 1851 Glasgow .... son 3 months

1841 census he was single and I have that information.  My credits have expired so I can't check the SP site.

Any help would be appreciated.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / * COMPLETE * Help with Maiden Name please
« on: Wednesday 13 February 13 09:34 GMT (UK)  »

It has been quite a while since I did transcribing and out of practise with this 1856 death.  I thought the first letter is "K" ..... as it is very similar to the wording "Widow of Kind" which I will attach.  I have never heard of that expression :)
