Margaret and Bridget Green from Calderbank married Patrick (m 1900) and Timothy Forde (m 1904).
Looking to contact any present day descendants of these families that may still live in Scotland.
Patrick & Margaret Forde emigrated to USA in 1926. Timothy remained in Scotland and died there in 1930. Another brother Bartholomew Forde married Rosea Gallogly in 1912. The Forde brothers were from Co Cork Ireland. All their children were baptised in Chapelhall parish. Any information welcome.

Donegal / Doherty from Culdaff
« on: Saturday 24 November 18 13:16 GMT (UK)  »
I'm wondering if anybody here is familiar with the family of John Doherty and Cecily McDade. They married in 1840 in Culdaff and had children born in Ballinabo. John born 1848 is first one I found. He emigrated to New York and died in Brooklyn in 1910. I have found the other children born in Ballinabo, but I hope somebody might know some cousins or descendants. He was related to a Cecily (or Cecelia) Doherty born about 1869, but not sure how. She also emigrated to Brooklyn and married an Edward Lafferty, who may also have been from Donegal. There is a Cecily born 1869 in Barrawalla? or Moneydarragh and this might be her. So many Dohertys.

Cork / Mahony/Vaughan from Newtown Maxwell
« on: Wednesday 03 October 18 21:20 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for any information and a marriage for John Mahony and Hannah/Johanna Vaughan which may have taken place about 1881 in Charleville or nearby. Their only child James was born on 11th August 1882 in Newtonmaxwell and baptised on 13 Aug 1882 in Charleville. I have those details but can't find a marriage and I don't know where they were from. There is a John Mahony, Widower, death on 4 Jun 1897 aged 70, it says from Newtown, which may be him, but it says daughter Anne present, so not sure. Any clues welcome. He worked most of his life in the British army.

Looking for information on Doherty family from Crimlin, Ballyvaughan parish, Co Clare. Austin Doherty born 16 Apr 1855, emigrated to New Zealand in 1874. His parents were Michael Doherty and Ellen Driscoll. Looks like his brother John married Catherine Driscoll and remained in Crimlin. Did he have a brother Thomas who was a shoemaker and also emigrated to New Zealand? Any information on this family welcome. I know the New Zealand story re Austin. His descendants are still there.

« on: Thursday 30 March 17 20:37 BST (UK)  »
Denis Leary & Nora McCarthy had children all born in a place called Mileenanig (or various spellings), children all baptised in Dunmanway. My question is can somebody tell me where this place is. Their son Arthur born 9 Jun 1822 was sent as a convict to Van Diemen's land and married there to a Mary Kelleher from Inchavore, Inchigeela in 1855.

Monaghan / Thomas Halpin or Halfpenny & Catherine Walsh from Laragh
« on: Thursday 15 December 16 22:33 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for any information on the ancestors/relations of Thomas Halpin and Catherine Walsh, who married in Aghnamullen East parish on 27 Nov 1863 and had 10 children between then and 1881.
The family moved to Waterford sometime between 1881 and 1887 and the Father Thomas died on 26 Jun 1887. I have birth/baptismal dates for the children in Monaghan and have their deaths etc in Waterford. My query really is who were they? Or why did they move to Waterford? From the 1901/1911 census Mother is born in Monaghan. Children are ?, Ellen, Mary, Bridget, Jane, Patrick, James, John,Thomas & Catherine. Family story said they were related to James Connolly, but we cant find any evidence for this so far. Thomas was a mechanic.
