Ireland / Patric(k) GUERIN from DERRYMORE
« on: Monday 16 July 12 14:13 BST (UK)  »
I have an ancestor, Patric(k) GUERIN, who lived in Northallerton, Yorkshire from circa 1861 until his death in 1867. His father was also Patric, as shown on his 1861 marriage certificate (All Saints Church, Northallerton). The 1861 census showed his birthplace as "Derrymore, Ireland". Later censuses just say "Ireland".
We believe that there are "Derrymore" in Antrim, Armagh and Kerry. We have no idea which one we need to check to find Patrick's ancestry. Can anyone help us with this, please? Any suggestions or information will be much appreciated.

(I am posting this message on the Antrim, Armagh and Kerry message boards)

Can anyone tell me where to find details of prisoners held there in c 1851? The census says that John  BRACKENBURY  was a prisoner. I need to know when he went there, why, when he left!!
John was my gt gt grandfather - and two of his sons became Police Officers!!

Yorkshire (North Riding) / JAMES THOMPSON of NORTHALLERTON, b C1806
« on: Wednesday 31 March 10 20:30 BST (UK)  »
James THOMPSON was shown on the 1841 census as a Tailor. He was living with Christiana MITCHELL. She was a spinster, and the mother of his four children - all named MITCHELL, but was never married to him.

We have traced Christiana, up to her death in 1878, but cannot find any trace of James after 1841.

We do not have any details of James' ancestors, so cannot trace his birth or death via FREE BMD.

We are trying to find out more about James THOMPSON. Can anyone help, please?

Ireland / Derrymore?
« on: Sunday 14 February 10 16:37 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know about DERRYMORE, IRELAND? There seems to be more then one place of that name. I have a PATRIC GUERIN who was born in Derrymore in 1834. That's all I know. He was in England, but I cannot find him after 1881. Neither can I find a death record!

Any ideas?

Thanks
