Staffordshire / Querying Marriage date and Marriage Banns
« on: Friday 25 November 22 13:14 GMT (UK)  »
My 5x grgrandparents were married 1/5/1757 but the Banns of marriage were dated 5/12/1757 and the Marriage Notice dated 19/12 1757 according to Family Search. I have not been able to verify either as I will need to see the original documents.
Can anyone help with this?

Is there any way of finding out more about these deaths which left 5 orphaned children under 12.
I have had help on this site before about this family and found that  children were in the workhouse .

Shropshire / Which Sarah is the correct wife?
« on: Wednesday 30 December 20 12:14 GMT (UK)  »
My 4x gr grandfather married Sarah in 1791. I have him married to Sarah Daddicott 1 Dec 1791 at St Martin's Birmingham ( the marriage record shows both parties were from St Martin's parish.) but a recent contact suggests his marriage was to Sarah Downing on 29 Dec 1791 at Lillieshall. Sarah Daddicott was baptised at Shifnal 22 Dec 1771 while Sarah Downing was baptised at Wellington 15 Jul 1767. I cannot find a baptism for Samuel but after their marriage Samuel and Sarah lived in Dawley Magna.Sarah's death shows her age as 72 which would suggest that she is Sarah Downing.

Staffordshire / What happened to the children?
« on: Thursday 05 November 20 13:12 GMT (UK)  »
I think I may have asked this some considerable time ago but as yet have found no answers.
My 3x gr grandparents John Broome and Hannah Bishton both died in 1830 in Weston under Lizard. Hannah buried 21 Feb 1830 and John 27 Sep 1830 leaving 5 young children - Elizabeth born 1818, John born 1820, William born 1823, Lucy born 1826 and Jane born 1828.
I have been unable to find anything about them from then until their respective marriages except for Jane who was a servant in Wolverhapton in 1841.
Any suggestions as to where I go from here?

Durham / Can't find burial COMPLETED
« on: Friday 26 June 20 14:38 BST (UK)  »
I have been on Find a Grave website for St Margaret's Church Nevilles Cross where they have a list of burials and photos of gravestones, looking for the family grave of my Grandparents John William and Emma Vickers. I know that my Grandma was buried in the plot which had to have special permission to have it opened in Jan 1959 as I was at the funeral but the site says there is no trace. Can anyone help with further research.

Staffordshire / Who looked after them
« on: Friday 09 August 19 17:40 BST (UK)  »
My gr gr Grandfather John Broom was only 10 when both of his parents died in 1830 in Weston under Lizard. He had one older sister and 3 younger siblings. Who would have looked after them or where would they have been sent?

Shropshire / Can't get my head around these relationships
« on: Saturday 08 June 19 12:28 BST (UK)  »
I have a Jefrey Wier born (c 1670 in Long Stanton I think) who married Margery Jones( born 6 May 1685 in Dawley Magna) 18 Nov 1710 in Shifnal. I think they are my 6x gr grandparents.
However there is another marriage of a Jefrey Wier to Mary Jones 30 Jul 1722 also in Shifnal.
My 5x gr grandmother Judith Wier born 17 Nov 1711 in Dawley Magna has parents Jefrey and Margery.
My question is did Jefrey Wier marry twice or is the one who married in 1722 a different person?
All the children of the 2? marriages are born between 1711 and 1731 and the mother is variosly given as Mariery, Margery or Mary. The last child born 1731 would make Jefrey 61 when she was born.
Some of my details are obviously incorrect.
