« on: Thursday 10 December 20 10:18 GMT (UK)  »
Hi  :)

I have a Mary SOMERS or SUMMERS born in Liverpool and I'm struggling to pin down a baptism and wondered if anyone could help?

Mary's estimated year of birth changes from source to source;
(not found Mary in 1841)
Jan 51 marriage to Nicholas DYNAN, age "full"
Mar 51 census, age 20 c. 1831
Feb 61 marriage to Jonathan BRADLEY, age 31 c. 1830
Apr 61 census, age 31 c. 1830
71 census, age 42 c. 1829
81 census, age 50 c. 1831
91 census, age 59 c. 1832
01 census, age 69 c. 1832
02 death registration, age 70 c. 1832

On Mary's 51 Bolton marriage cert. she lists her father as James SUMMERS, soldier
On Mary's 61 Prestwich marriage cert. she lists her father as James SOMERS, farmer

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Many thanks, Rowan Tree  :)

Renfrewshire / Pollokshaws - Agnes CLARK.
« on: Monday 07 December 20 13:07 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Wondering if anyone can help me with a baptism for Agnes CLARK daughter of Alexander CLARK and Catherine GRAHAM?

Going off the census, Agnes was born in Pollokshaws. From source to source Agnes' estimated year of birth changes;
61 census = 1841
71 census = 1842
81 census = 1843
I've not found Agnes in 91
01 census = 1844
Agnes is recorded as age 22 on her 1861 marriage (so c. 1840 birth)
On Agnes' 1904 burial she is recorded as age 60 (so c. 1844 birth)

I don't have any record of Agnes before the 1861 census where she is living in Edinburgh. She married Thomas KENWORTHY in Edinburgh in 1862.
In 1869 Agnes and Thomas are living in Hyde, Cheshire.
In 1871 Agnes and Thomas are living in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
In 1881 Agnes and Thomas are living in Sunderland, Durham.
In 1901 Agnes and Thomas are living in Royton, near Oldham in Lancashire.
Agnes dies in 1904 in Royton.

If anyone could suggest a baptism for Agnes, or any siblings, or the 1851 census, I'd be delighted. Also, I'd be more that happy to order a birth certificate for Agnes but have never ordered a Scottish birth cert. before and don't really know how to proceed. Agnes and Thomas really intrigue me as they moved around so much and appear to have only had two children (or two that I can find) and only one of these children appear to have survived.

Many thanks for reading  :)

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Sidney and Margaret JOLLEY - 1871 Census Lookup
« on: Sunday 06 December 20 17:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hi  :)

I'm really struggling to find Sidney, Margaret and John JOLLEY on the 1871 census and wondered if anyone could help? Here is some information about the JOLLEY family;

Sidney JOLLEY born c. 1844 in Southport
Margaret (sidney's wife) nee MORAN born c. 1842 in Ireland
John JOLLEY (Sidney and Margaret's son) born c. 1867 in Manchester

I have Sidney on the 51, 61, 81, 91, 01 and 11 census.
I have Margaret on the 81 census only (Margaret died in 1890).
I have John on the 81, 91, 01 and 11 census.

Source Citation for the JOLLEY family on the 1881 census:
RG11/3752/109 p22

In December 1866 Sidney and Margaret marry in Manchester.
The eldest JOLLEY child that I know of is born in Manchester in 1867.
The next JOLLEY child that I know of, Robert William, is born in Liverpool in April 1872.
In 1881 the JOLLEY family are living in Hart Street, Southport.

Many thanks,

Kirsty  :)

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Hesketh, Peter b. 1859 baptism???
« on: Saturday 14 November 20 22:35 GMT (UK)  »
Hello there,

I'm struggling to find a baptism for Peter HESKETH b. 11/02/1859 in Toxteth, Liverpool.

I have Peter's birth cert. He was born at 10 Mann Street, Toxteth. His parents are Thomas HESKETH and Margaret nee. MILLER.

Also looking for the marriage of Peter's parents and baptisms for Peter's siblings Robert c. 1851 and Mary Ellen c. 1860.

I've found a sibling of Peter:
Thomas b. 31/01/1855 bapt. 05/03/1855 at St. Patrick, Toxteth (but can't find a death and this child doesn't appear on the 1961 census).

Peter went on to marry in a C of E church, so if he was raised catholic, he didn't remain catholic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many, many thanks,

Kirsty  :)

Hi,

I'm wondering how to go about learning more about a licensed victualler by the name of John James LIGHTFOOT (1867 - 1917).

I believe he was the landlord of a pub in Widnes - The Ram's Head. Two different pubs in Parr, St. Helens - The Queen's Arms and The Engine Inn. And also worked in pub(s) in Garston.

I'd also like to pinpoint the location of The Ram's Head in Widnes. It's safe to say it doesn't exist now but where exactly was it and do any images survive? It could have been on or near Sutton's Lane in Widnes but I'm not sure.

Any help / advice much appreciated.

Best Wishes,

Rowan Tree  :)

Lancashire Lookup Requests / LIGHTFOOT, Stephen = burial lookup request
« on: Monday 02 July 18 14:17 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm hoping to find the burial of Stephen LIGHTFOOT.

b. 22/03/1812 Liverpool
d. 29/09/1888 36 Abbot Street, Everton

Stephen was married twice (that I know of) and also appears to have had an illegitimate child.

marriage 1;
03/10/1831 to Jane Roberts in Liverpool

marriage 2;
01/06/1865 to Isabella Iceton nee Lowry in Liverpool

An affair with Ann Lightfoot (could have been a relative?) producing a son, John James LIGHTFOOT b. 1867

Any help very much appreciated. Many thanks in anticipation, Rowan Tree  :)

Lancashire / What happened to John Vignaux LIGHTFOOT
« on: Wednesday 27 June 18 22:16 BST (UK)  »
I have the following baptism:

Our Lady and St. Nicholas, Liverpool
b. 16/09/1808
bapt. 16/10/1808
John Vignaux son of William Lightfoot, Lumber Street, waiter and Mary nee Underwood, his wife

I'd really love to learn what happened to John Vignaux. I haven't been able to find a death/burial, a marriage or anything on the census.

Also, curious about the unusual name; Vignaux.

Anybody able to spot something I've hopefully missed?

Many thanks in anticipation, Rowan Tree  :)
