Somerset Lookup Requests / Priscilla LOVIBOND
« on: Wednesday 11 March 09 17:27 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

I have encountered one Priscilla Lovibond who wed Uriah Hosier at Othery on the
30th Apr 1803. They were both shown as minors, so I assume this would mean that
she was born after 1785.

So, any candidates for her parents, or idea on her birth / bapt. date, Please.

Thanks in anticipation,

Chainsaw.

Wales / Welsh Names
« on: Friday 20 February 09 19:45 GMT (UK)  »
I seem to have some early welsh ancestors.

Help !!!

The problem arises when I try to trace a family line, because there does not seem to be any general consensus upon how to spell the names, so every source spells them differently. Then it seems that many of these data subjects used a variety of names that they would change whenever the mood took them.

Forgive me for saying that it all looks like a terrible mess !

Can anyone suggest a solution that will enable me to make some sense of it all, Please.

England / Early Perrys of Somerset
« on: Tuesday 17 February 09 18:13 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All,

I'm working on the early Perrys of Somerset, I have James Perry, born 1695 at

Walton, died 1772 at Walton, wed Mary ?. The trouble is that is as far back as I can

read on the Parish Register photofiche ( one eye, and that's not too good ), so I

would be glad of all and any info you have. Seems I will have to do a ONS,

everything pre 1700, Please.

Thanks,

Chainsaw.

Somerset Lookup Requests / Western Zoyland
« on: Tuesday 03 February 09 16:49 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All, I would like to beg a little help from anyone who has the Western Zoyland Parish Registers.

I have 2 mystery ladies, and although I know it is possibly that they were just living
there 'in service' when they wed, I would be glad if someone could check for me.

1, Ann Perry, born circa 1725, who wed Richard Lovibond at Western Zoyland on
19 March 1749.

2, Rosina Rose Perry, born circa 1849, who wed Oliver Bown at Western Zoyland on
18 September 1882.

If they were born in that area, I am hoping that some kind person might tell me when, and who were their parents

Thanks so very much,
Chainsaw.

Somerset / Where next?
« on: Thursday 22 January 09 23:30 GMT (UK)  »
Sorry if this is an old question, but as an irregular reader I would not know if it has been asked before.

So, you have exhausted all the available censuses, purchased dozens of microfiche of parish records, ( avoiding third party transcripts, and the inevitable 'human error'), and for a while life was easy, but now they too are exhausted as a source of data.

But where to go for earlier information, or must I get stuck in the same rut as many members of my local FHS, banging on and on, and on about WW1/WW2, as if the human race did not exist before then.

I have tried manor records, land ownership, various tax records, wills and probate,
muster rolls.

Where next, Please ??
