Anglesey / A history of the Church of the Cymry - London 1894
« on: Saturday 17 October 15 00:18 BST (UK)  »
I have been researching a relative of mine who went to Australia and came back again. We were always told he founded the first chapel there - I think in Melbourne but nothing I have found so far proves this is so. A William Hughes apparently wrote the above but I do not know anything about the author as I have not seen the book. Does anybody have a copy to see if there is anything about him in the book. I can find lots of references to the prime minister William "Billy" Hughes but this is not my relative
Any information would be helpful. i have some old books that confirm he was a minister in australia and also visited New Zealand but that is as far as i have got. He was born in Anglesey.

Anglesey / Monfa Tea Gardens
« on: Friday 09 October 15 23:21 BST (UK)  »
does anybody know anything about Monfa Tea Gardens in LLanfairpwllgwyngyll. It was a wooden structure - possibly there in 1946 but would love to know where it was in the village and also when it closed. It seems very familiar (photos for sale on ebay) but I must have been tiny if it was there when I was a child.

The Common Room / Lily Baraclough
« on: Thursday 14 May 15 00:14 BST (UK)  »
I may be on a wild goose chase here but am looking into entries made in an autograph book that belonged to my great aunt and which I have reproduced as a small book/biography of her life as a WW1 nurse.
I have an entry by Lilly Baraclough and another as your cousin Lil. I am trying to dscover if these are the same person. They would have had to have been related in a way that i know nothing of as there is no Lil in my family research so far. My aunt was called Annie Hughes and was a spinster - her sisters did not have children called Lily. she was born in anglesey

Library and FHS Lookups / Lazonby Brandon and Byshottles
« on: Friday 17 April 15 00:36 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out a little bit about Charles Watson Lazonby - born Chapel le Street 1988 and lived in Brandon and Byshottles in 1901. I know he fought in WW1 and was I believe 2/lieutenant in the Hussars but this may be incorrect. I would like to know if he survived the war and if he did when did he die. Guess he returned to Durham after the war.

Family History Beginners Board / Hospital Photograph
« on: Tuesday 02 September 14 18:29 BST (UK)  »
This is very much a longshot . Is there anyone who has a photograph taken in the 1900's of the following hospitals - Cowley Hospital, Third southern General Hospital Oxford or Chester General Infirmary. I am planning to publish a little booklet about a WW1 nurse relative and would like to include any or all of these photographs - need to know in the next week or so - after that there is no need to worry about it. I do not want to incur copyright charges so would be hoping someone wouldn't mind me using them as I am trying to raise funds for a nursing charity or towards charities for wounded service people.

Family History Beginners Board / Thanks and good reccomendations
« on: Thursday 12 June 14 00:36 BST (UK)  »
This is just  short message to recommend the staff at the Register offices in LLangefni and in Caernarvon who together have helped me to find both the birth and death certificates of my late great aunt after I traced possible leads on the internet. The  information was found relatively quickly and was done by post. My grateful thanks in completing my research on a remarkable lady who died long before I was born.
