Tyrone / Tithe Applottments
« on: Tuesday 06 March 18 16:26 GMT (UK)  »
I have been looking at church Of Ireland Vestry Minutes and have seen a couple of entries "applottments  agreed" followed by  short list of names. Is this how the amount payable was calculated using the area of a "plot"? or has the word applottment  another meaning. The list of names is short so it's not those being charged. I have also looked at the actual Tithe records at PRONI. Could the list possibly refer to the collectors of the Tithes. Can anyone tell me more about the Tithes and who actually accessed and then collected them.I know the money was for the upkeep of the Church Of Ireland, the established church.

Tyrone / Memorials of Irish Deeds
« on: Tuesday 16 May 17 22:29 BST (UK)  »
I probably sound stupid but I have been trying to work out how these memorials work. They seem to show A leasing land to B with what seem to be witnesses, C D E etc  but the  lease is for the term of the lives of three others FGH etc , different people.  Is there a pattern here? Are the three others relatives or possibly tenants of B?  A lot of these memorials  have been transcribed on www.cotyroneireland.com and they are really interesting. Can anyone help, Please.

Tyrone / Catholic Burials near Aughnacloy
« on: Sunday 24 April 16 17:08 BST (UK)  »
Has anyone any idea where Catholic people were buried in the Aughnacloy area? The Chapel in the main street was not built until around 1900 but there must be an older graveyard. I know there were three barn type churches at Dernabane which was known as  the Quarry Chapel, Killens and the Hopps chapel near Caledon, There are no burial records as far as I know. Any help would be appreciated,

Tyrone / Graveards
« on: Monday 05 March 12 21:15 GMT (UK)  »
Does anybody know if records exist for 1800s which show who is buried in which grave.I have looked at burial records for a particular family but they don't give a grave number yet thay must have been able to know when a grave was full.I know that, in Belfast, if you have a grave number, you can find out who is buried there.I am interested in the Aghaloo and Carnteel church of Ireland records.Any suggestions would be welcome.
