Antrim / Harrison from Ballintoy 18th century
« on: Saturday 31 May 14 19:26 BST (UK)  »
Hello, I am researching two brothers, James and Charles Harrison from County Antrim, immigrated to the USA circa 1767, Loyalists and removed to New Brunswick, Canada following the end of the War. Am trying to locate their parish of birth and their parents. On the PRONI databases, I was able to find a James Harrison in the 1766 census in Ballintoy. In the Church records available at PRONI, I read that the early registers were destroyed in Dublin, but the vestry minutes back to 1713 have survived. Would those minutes contain names of parishioners, families etc... in order word, information that would be of genealogical value? Thank you

Armagh / Bon(n)er family from Drumnykerne, Shankill Parish, County Armagh
« on: Friday 14 March 14 01:10 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all

I am researching this family. In the Ireland wills indexes I found three:

1. William Boner probated 1812
2. John Boner probated 1823
3. Elizabeth Bonner probated 1847

I am aware that these wills were more than likely destroyed, but am now looking at church records. If my research is correct, the Bon(n)er's were not Catholics. A google search is confusing about churches in that area. Can someone point me in the right direction? Any other sources which could give me information on these three persons? Thanks

Antrim / Death Thomas Mills, Belfast 1917
« on: Sunday 08 December 13 19:05 GMT (UK)  »
Good day from Canada

I am researching Thomas Mills, born around 1881 in N-I. In 1908, he married Susanna Moore. She died here in Quebec and Thomas returned to Ireland. He was a WWI soldier, served with the 19th Irish Fusiliers and discharged in 1917 due to illness. I have his service record. He is commemorated on our War Memorial here as he resided in Quebec for some time. I have found a Thomas Mills in the death indexes: Jul-Aug-Sep 1917, Belfast. Is there a way to obtain more details about this Thomas Mills before ordering the record from GRONI? Interested in his burial and tombstone as well. Any databases available for me to search in what Church the burial took place? Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks

Down / Thomas Mills born circa 1880 County Down
« on: Saturday 11 May 13 15:25 BST (UK)  »
Good day

I am researching Thomas Mills, born in Ballygowan, County Down around 1880-1883. He emigrated to Quebec around 1908. He married Susannah Moore also in 1908. He returned to Ireland between 1914 and 1916 with a residence in Belfast. His three children were born in Quebec. I have located his marriage record in 1908 in Downpatrick. I can not locate his birth nor his death. He served with the 19th Royal Irish Rifle in World War One but was medically discharged in 1917. He died prior to 1923 as he is mentioned on our Cenotaph here in Quebec, so I am assuming he died as a result of the War. His father was also named Thomas. I have the Mills' in the 1911 Canada census and believe I have him in the 1901 Ireland census in Down. What I am looking for would be his birth record as well as his death record. Also, any passenger lists showing his crossing to Canada and his return to Ireland would be great. I have consulted Ancestry Worldwide, Findmypast, Familysearch and various online databases. I have a possible death record in 1922 in Belfast South, but it is only a possibility at this point. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Cheshire Lookup Requests / 1901 marriage Bebington lookup please
« on: Monday 09 May 11 16:47 BST (UK)  »
Good day

I am researching Thomas Henry Thomas who married Ethel Mary Holloway on 18 May 1901 at the Parish Church in Bebington. I have the GRO record and it only mentions the fathers: John Edward Thomas labourer and Reuben Holloway soldier. I am trying to locate the respective mother's of the groom. Would the mother's names be mentioned in the parish records? Are these parish records open for the public to view? If so, then could someone who goes regularly please have a look for me? Thanks very much

Canada Lookup Request / Ontario marriage search 1840
« on: Sunday 03 January 10 07:06 GMT (UK)  »
I am researching the following couple:

Jonathan Stanton married Lucy Mendham (Mendell) around 1840. Jonathan was WM faith.

I was able to locate a baptism of one of their daughters Rosanna in 1842. The baptism took place in Oxford Twp but the residence of the parents is listed as Mountain. I checked numerous WMs books on marriages and baptisms, Eastern and Johnstown District marriages and can't find this couple or any other children. This family emigrated to the US and had a total of 16 children with 3-4 being born in Canada. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
