The Common Room / Suzanne C Jeannot /Teann 1939 Register
« on: Sunday 07 April 24 11:25 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
Suzanne C Jeannot born 5/7/1915 was listed as a border living with Elizabeth A Higgs a distant cousin of mine and her husband in Surrey.
Suzanne's occupation was listed as a stenographer/foreign correspondant although Ancestry has her transcribed as Suzanne C Teann.
Over the years I have always wondered and researched where she originated from and what happened to her with no joy.
Would anyone be able to find out any other information on this lady.
Many thanks in advance.
Helen.

The Common Room / Admiralty Staff Records
« on: Wednesday 24 January 24 19:05 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
My great-aunt Marjorie was employed by the admiralty as a civil servant during the war and into at least the early 1960's.
I would love to research more into this or are all staff records closed.
Would anyone be able to offer any advice as to where to start as it is a new area of research for me.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Helen.

The Common Room / Hackney Death 2012 ?
« on: Monday 31 July 23 14:24 BST (UK)  »
Hi Rootschatters,
I have tried and tried to research this lady.
Mitsuki Kusonoki born Japan 1972...Died Hackney , London 2012.
I think she may have married someone with the surname BARKER as it looks like the owner of the tree may be her son.
It is the marriage or death I am interested in seeking, not her birth in Japan.
My aunt will not be related to this lady but via the person she will have married.
I have taken the above details from a family tree that appears on one of my aunts DNA matches.
There are no other shared matches between them both. I have messaged the owner of the tree with no reply.
I hope this is okay to post due to the recentish death.
Any help greatly appreciated but not holding out much hope.
Thank you so much.
Helen.

The Common Room / GRO Index PDF Trial Offer
« on: Saturday 15 July 23 11:22 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
Has the £2.50 trial offer for PDF view certificates finished?
I've just ordered a death certificate from 1916.
It was priced at £7.00 which is fine but I logged into the site a few days ago and saw them priced at £2.50 for certain year rates and thought I would order a few at the weekend.
I've probably missed the trial offer.
Thanks so much.

The Common Room / New York Arriving passenger list
« on: Wednesday 01 February 23 10:34 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Rootschatters,

Ellie Levy is listed as sailing on the ship Caronia to New York from Liverpool arriving on 5/9/1906.

Refering to the original transcript on Ancestry could anyone disipher her brother in law's first name ?

His address is listed as 47 Cheriff Street <Sheriff ? > New York City.

I have tried to look for occupants of the above address of the 1910 and 1920 U.S.A. Census but cannot find the Street appearing when I try to add to the search engine.

Could anyone help with this please ?

I'm hoping Ellie Levy is a transcript error and should be Ettie Levy, but she also appears on census's as Etta , Ettie.

The family I am researching which may be the above Lesser or Lessen marries Hattie Levy on 11/10/1912 Monroe district of New York.

Hattie was born in Manchester UK 1886. On her marriage license her parents are listed as Abraham and Gertrude . I haven't been able to definitely find her parents on any census or sail crossing.

I have all information of Lesser and Hattie after their marriage until they died.

Many thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.

Helen x

Hi,
Please could any of you lovely rootschatters advise me of how and where to apply to be able to purchase a birth certificate for Margaret Frances O'Reilly registered Dublin North 1926 volume 2-page 347 ( Margaret is now deceased). I have the volume and page number.
I would like to find out more regarding Margaret's parents as all the information I have is after she came to the UK.
I am new to Irish Genealogy and based in the UK so any help very much appreciated.
Thank you so much.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Is this a coincidence at 21 cm ?
« on: Saturday 23 April 22 12:54 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I have a Ancestry DNA match of 21cm between myself, the match and my mum's first cousin.

I have been able to narrow down the possible family lines due to having many family members of different family lines adding DNA test to my Ancestry database.

I have found that my G-G-Grandmother Jane Smith nee Everiss married the shared match's G-G-G-Grandfather Edward Taylor in Cheltenham in 1868 within five months of first wife dying.

They had no children after this marriage.

I am pondering if my Great Grandfather George William born 25/3/1858 was the son of the shared match's G-G-G-Grandfather from an earlier dalliance ten years before.

On the 1871 census he is listed as William Smith son in law living with the above which is obviously a relationship mistake should have been step son.

Would the 21 centimorgan match work through to this possible relationship or do I need to research family lines further to link the connection ?

Just a little background regarding Jane Everiss...

My great-great grandmother Jane Everiss born Cheltenham @ 1818, married Thomas Smith on 25/12/1845 in Cheltenham.
Many different spellings of Evriss across the census's. Averiss, Everiss, Averiffs.

Do I discount this possible theory.....I have looked at DNA Painter but still not sure.

I'm so sorry for the ramblings....any help greatly appreciated.....

Helen x

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / 363 centimorgan DNA match
« on: Tuesday 29 March 22 14:45 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

I do you use the DNA tool painter often and find it really useful, but does anyone have a 363 centimorgan match or near to it on their DNA results.

Just wondering what your confirmed relationship works out at ?

Many thanks.
