Gloucestershire / Isaac and David Smith
« on: Monday 08 June 15 19:50 BST (UK)  »
I'm hoping there's someone who can look up a Gloucestershire baptism for me.
My Great x 2 Grandfather was David, or Daniel in some censuses, Smith born in about 1829 in Barnwood, his father (from his marriage certificate) was Isaac and from census returns his mother was Elizabeth ?

Also if there's any record of a marriage for Isaac and Elizabeth I would love to have the details. Isaac was baptized 11th Dec 1796 in Barnwood and was buried there on Oct 22nd 1833.

Many Thanks

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / William Scott c1831 Westoning
« on: Tuesday 03 July 12 19:29 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find any record of William Scott prior to the 1861 census. I have him from then through to 1911. He married Catherine Bradley in 1853 in York and lived the rest of his life either in Yorkshire or Co Durham but consistently gives his birthplace as Westoning, Bedfordshire although his year of birth varies between 1824 and 1831.

Any sightings in either 1841 or 1851 would be much appreciated, especially if he is with his parents.

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Barnard Betts, Attleborough c1784
« on: Monday 12 April 10 20:01 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for any information on Barnard Betts, who according to the 1851 census was born in Attleborough c1784.

In 1841 and 1851 he was living in Plumstead, Kent and working as a sawyer. His second wife Elizabeth, who he married in 1847 in Islington is with. On his marriage record he states his father was James Betts, a maltster.

I would be especially interested in any information about his ancestors and also the name of his first wife. He was my 4 x great grandfather.

Many Thanks

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Basebe marriage
« on: Saturday 17 January 09 11:38 GMT (UK)  »
For some time now I have been looking for the first marriage of my great x 2 grandfather Samuel Basébé to Jane Brown(e). I can't find them on FreeBMD or in any parish records that are on- line.

Samuel was baptised in St Leonards, Shoreditch in 1835, son of Thomas and Charlotte.

I have found him, imaginatively mistranscibed, in all censuses.
In 1851 he is single but by 1861 he is with Jane and their first child Rosina, aged 1, living in Chelsea. Jane's birthplace is given as Dublin. I don't think they married in Ireland as I think I have Jane on the 1851 living with an Aunt in Chelsea.

From Rosina's birth certificate she was born 25/9/1859

I have also found his subsequent 2 marriages to Alice Ayre and Hannah Symons.

Any help or ideas where to look next gratefully received.

Pam
