Dublin / St Mary's baptism 1758
« on: Wednesday 20 October 21 17:00 BST (UK)  »
I've found a probable baptism for an ancestor on 10 Dec 1758, St Mary's Cathedral

His name was John Chambers, born to Richard and Catherine

Following the above info, there's some handwriting I can't decipher. Can anybody help me with this, please ?

Denbighshire / Margaret Lloyd b circa 1782 Derwen(?)
« on: Thursday 11 June 20 15:08 BST (UK)  »
I'm finding it difficult to establish the parenthood of the above lady. She married Edward Rogers in Derwen in 1804, and consequently had children in both Llanfair DC and Betws Gwerfyl Goch. She died in Llanfair DC 1824, age given as 42. I'm afraid that I don't know the area, and so I can't really spot the most likely candidates. I'd be grateful for a new pair of eyes and opinions, please.

My gggg-grandparents married at Llanbeblig (Caernarfon now) in 1789. Both were widowed. Would the name my gggg-grandmother have married under been her maiden name, or the surname of her first husband ? (Who is unknown to me)

Suffolk / Chambers of Sudbury
« on: Friday 23 August 19 07:23 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone has any idea of the fate of the following, all born in Sudbury as the children of Richard Chambers and Susannah Mortlock ?

Anne Fitzroy (?) Chambers, b 1832
George James Chambers, b 1834
Charles John Chambers, b 1837
John Richard Chambers, b 1839

I suspect they died young, but I'd be grateful if anyone has evidence one way or the other.
Thank you

Caernarvonshire Lookup Requests / Ellis Robert Jones ( b 1861, Caernarfon/Llanbeblig)
« on: Wednesday 14 August 19 18:38 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone can find the above gentleman in the 1871 census, please ? . He is in the 1881 census at Weirglodd Goch, Llanddeiniolen. He is described as the 'nephew' of the head of household, William Ellis Rowlands. He can be found with the same family in 1891 and 1901, with consistent details.
He is also found on GRO births in 1861, with the mother's surname being given as 'Rowlands' . Since Llanbeblig records are not online, his baptism might be available at the archives (But the family were certainly staunch nonconformists) .
By process of elimination, and assuming a legit birth, I suspect his mother was Anne Rowlands ( b 1829, Llanddeiniolen) . She is still with her parents in 1851, so any marriage would be 1851-1861. The son's name would suggest a father named Robert Jones, but I cannot be sure as to whether Anne would have married under the surname Williams or Rowlands.
Assuming the mother was Anne, I've found possible parents in 1861 at Hole-In-The-Wall-Street in Caernarfon ( But no other censuses, and I can't make out the father's profession)
I've exhausted all online routes, so I'd be grateful for any suggestions as to 1871 and/or parents' marriage.
Diolch yn fawr iawn.
