Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Fields/Morris/Hays family?
« on: Tuesday 15 August 17 12:55 BST (UK)  »

I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me please? My great uncle Cecil Fields married Florence B Morris in 1927 in Basford, and they had a daughter Coral in 1928. Coral went on to marry a Mr Hays ... and thats all I can find!

Could anyone help me find any other information about Cecil's life and family please? I'm not sure the geneaology site I'm signed up to is the best one...

Many thanks!

Sussex / Fields family in Brighton area?
« on: Monday 07 August 17 16:15 BST (UK)  »

I'm researching my family tree and I have found that a great aunt Violet Fields and a great uncle Percy Fields lived and died in Brighton. They would have died in the 1980's. A bit of a long shot but does anyone know any Fields in Brighton that may be related?

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / Edith Ella Fields?
« on: Monday 07 August 17 15:42 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to trace some information about Edith Ella Fields - my great aunt.

Born in 1896/7, she was 5 at the time of the 1901 census. However that's all I can find about her, no death record, marriage record, nothing else. She was the daughter of George (My Great Grandfather) and Clara Fields (Nee Kilby).

There is a chance she did marry a Mr Young but again, I can't find any trace! Am I looking in the wrong place?

I don't suppose anyone can shed any light on this or help please? It seems the whole family was out when the 1911 census was done because I can't find a single one of them! All twelve of them!!

Any help would be much appreciated...

Bedfordshire / Biggleswade - Burials also death certificates
« on: Thursday 05 February 09 17:18 GMT (UK)  »
Mainly thanks to help I've received here I'm well on my way on my family tree! But I just have a few queries I was wondering if anyone could help me with!

Firstly, what is the best way to find out where someone was buried? I understand from the County Records in Beds that Biggleswade Town Council have the records - does anyone know the procedure or how they have the records?

The next thing is, is there anyway to find out information from a death certificate without ordering the copy? I think I may have found three siblings of my grandfather who died before they were 1 and I was wondering if there is any way to see the parents or any further info without travelling to London (which is very difficult for me) or ordering all the death certificates (expensive).

Also, what information is shown on death certificates?

Thank you in advance for any help! Sorry it is so much!!

Bedfordshire / FIELD Family - Help Please
« on: Wednesday 31 December 08 13:23 GMT (UK)  »

I've just started researching my family history on my Fathers side and I've got quite far in a short time but have hit a dead end.

I have found my great great grandfather William Fields in the 1871 census living with wife Louisa and three children (inc. my Great Grandfather) in Shortmead Street, Biggleswade at the age of 30.

Ten years previously, at 20 he was living in Palace Street, Biggleswade with his Grandmother (my great, great, great, great grandmother) Lydia Fields (her maiden name it must be) and her brother Thomas Fields. Lydia is listed as a widow.

Thing is I can find only one William born in Biggleswade at the right time (ish) - 1848. But the William  I have found in 1901 is living with his sister Jane Larkins and brother in law James Larkins and died in 1919 at the age of 75 according to records - which makes his year of birth 1844.

Is it common for there to be a discrepancy in years, ages? If I had the right William, then I could get his birth certificate to find out who Williams parents were.

The other problem I have is Lydia. If her surname is Fields (as is her brothers) then surely thats her maiden name. So her married name must be something different  - how come William is a Fields too? As her grandson, surely he would have Lydia's married name?
Can anyone help - I'm very confused!  :-\
