I'm looking for some advice regarding some black and white 1960s photos.  The photos have been sellotaped into an old soft card scrap book.  Some photos have fallen out but still have old sellotape attached others are still sellotaped into the book.  It is specifically what to do about the sellootape I'm looking for advice about, is it best to leave it on or is there a safe way of taking it off before moving them into a more suitable album? (I am in the process of scanning them), Thank you  :)

Some libraries are allowing free home access to the family history sites that you would normally have access to via library computers, such as as Find My Past, during this time of social isolation :)

The Common Room / Anger at Grave Photos on American Website
« on: Thursday 02 May 13 15:54 BST (UK)  »

I thought I'd share this news article as I wondered what others think about the website involved.  Personally I haven't had the experience of recently deceased relatives gravestones being put online but I can see how upsetting it would be.  I suspect most of us don't mind ancestors gravestones online but this seems to be taking things a bit too far.  Where do we draw the line?

Lanarkshire / Lockhart House, Dennistoun, Glasgow
« on: Sunday 07 April 13 13:29 BST (UK)  »
I have found some information that I thought might be interesting to people who have relatives who were married at Lockhart House but haven't been able to pinpoint the location.

I found a clue in a small ad in the Glasgow Herald, dated Thurs 30th November 1882, Issue 286

It says that a Bible woman is wanted for the East End at a salary of £35 and to apply to Lockhart House, Broompark Circus.

If you put Broompark Circus into google streetview you will see it is an area of large, detached houses.

However I haven't, as yet, been able to pinpoint which house it was

Hope this is helpful to someone  :)

Wales / Advice on using address search on 1911 census, (not a look up request)
« on: Sunday 30 December 12 16:07 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone can help me, I want to do an address look up for a farm house in Wales using find my past.  I've tried putting the farmhouse name in the street name box and in the residential place box without result. I don't have enough details for the advanced search apart from the civil parish but I didn't get any results from this either.  Does anyone know any way around this?  Thank you.
