I have come up with little on my husband's ancestor, Mark Parslow b. 1851 Bolton, Lancashire d. 6 May 1890 Townsville, Queensland, Australia.

I have two records for him, His marriage to Fanny Reynolds 12 Jul 1877 in the home of Rev. W. Powell on Boundary Street in Brisbane. This record indicates he is the son of John Parslow and Mary Ann Lockwood. His father and himself are stated as Butchers and that he was born in Baltan, Lancashire.

The other record is that of his death. Which as the occupations of himself and his father as both Butcher. Parents as John Parslow and Mary Ellen Lockwood. Also his birth as Bolton, England and he is 39 years at his death. And he has been in Queensland 13 years. Which puts his arrival to Queensland 1876/1877. By 1878 they are living in Toowoomba and sometime between 1885 and 1889 they move north to Townsville. I have nothing other than the names of his parents and that his father was a Butcher.

Anyone have relevant resources they can check, it would be greatly appreciated!

Lancashire / Mark Parslow, b. 1851 Bolton

As we all do I have a few brickwalls, and Mark Parslow is one of them!

Australian records for Mark Parslow say he was born in 1851 in Bolton(marriage record says Baltan), Lancashire. His parents being John Parslow and Mary Ann/Mary Ellen Lockwood.

I have yet to find any corroborating English Records for any of these people. On the marriage record it has both his own and his father's occ. as Butcher.

I am hoping someone can work wonders and find some clues for me!

Thank you!

Researching Ruth Proctor who married James Riley in the Sleaford District 4th QTR 1851. Ruth was born abt 1830 in Cranwell, Lincs. I believe she is the Ruth Proctor chr 1827 at Cranwell daughter of Joseph and Mary Proctor. FamilySearch World Tree has linked her as the daughter of Joseph Proctor and Sarah Cooper. Does anyone know if indeed she is the daughter of this couple? Someone has also placed a Ruth b. 1816 Scredington d. 1818 as a daughter of this couple as well.

I think I have found my Elizabeth Riley who married Dick Minchin Frankcom in 1882.

I believe she is the daughter of James Riley and Ruth Proctor.

Elizabeth was born in 1864 in Derby, she died in 1953, Brisbane, QLD, AUS

James was born in abt 1828 in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, his mother's name was Sarah b. abt 1804 in Derby. He may have had a brother named Thomas b. 1829. And the father may have been Charles.

James married Ruth Proctor in Sleaford District 4th QTR 1851. Ruth was b. abt 1830 in Cranwell, Lincolnshire. Her father's name was Joseph, her mother on the chr. record is Mary, but other researchers have pointed to Ruth being the daughter of Joseph Proctor and Sarah Cooper of Cranwell.

James and Ruth had the following children:

Charles cr 1856 d bef 1860
Sarah b. abt 1860
Charles b. abt 1860 (possibly Charles Thomas Riley)
Ellen b. abt 1862

James b. abt 1870
William b. abt 1872

« on: Saturday 10 May 14 14:37 BST (UK)  »
Here I have a long standing brickwall with my 5th great grandfather, Earl Percy Archer who was born abt 1765 in Londonderry. By 1800 he is living in Vermont, USA.

I'm not sure what options I have for researching him further within Londonderry.  I'd be interested in any leads. Also anyone with knowledge on any Archers from Northern Ireland please share.

Wicklow / Headon, Hayden - Blessington
« on: Saturday 10 May 14 01:37 BST (UK)  »
I started out with a Catherine Hayden b. c.1848 Co. Kildare arriving in Moreton Bay,  Aust aboard Wanata 14 Feb 1863 along side her older sisters Bridget b. c.1844 and Eliza b. c. 1846. Parents Martin Hayden and Mary Bain, occupation Blacksmith.

Utilizing the rootsireland.ie search without paying for the individual records I've found Catherine b.1849, Bridget b. 1843 and Eliza b. 1846 with Martin and Mary as parents and I've narrowed the parish to Blessington RC. In addition to these children I found Mary b. 1844 and Michael b. 1850. The spelling in all 5 instances is Headon.

I am not as successful finding a marriage for Martin and Mary in this way. But there is one for a Martin in 1839 at Athy RC, Co. Kildare.  Just not to a Mary Bain.

Would love to be in touch with anyone intrested in this family. If anyone has any ideas as to finding more info without spending 5 euros per extracted entry, please share.

Moray (Elginshire) / Simpson of Urquhart
« on: Sunday 11 September 11 02:11 BST (UK)  »
I am researching Jane Simpson b: 28 Jun 1789 & cr 30 Jun 1789 Urquhart, Moray, daughter of John Simpson and Margaret Duncan. I have in my notes that John was of Mossland, Urquhart.

Jane was second wife of James Matthew, they married 7 Jul 1814 in Elgin, Moray. His first wife was Jean Christie.

Jane Simpson Matthew died 3 Apr 1861 in Elgin, Moray.

Their children John and Jean Matthew migrated to Toronto, Canada. John married Christina Morrison and Jean married John Dunn. I descend from John and Christina.

I would like to know more about the Simpson family from this area and hopefully find out more about John Simpson and Margaret Duncan and thier parents.
