Lancashire / Griffith Roberts
« on: Thursday 27 October 22 12:50 BST (UK)  »
I know this a longshot, but... Trying to trace a Griffith Roberts, former RN officer invalided out of service after being traumatised in Gallipoli campaign in First World War. He died late 1940s or early 1950s.  His last known address was 149 Grove Street, Liverpool.

Here's hoping.

The Common Room / Royal connections
« on: Saturday 13 August 22 10:28 BST (UK)  »
An ongoing puzzle for me - how come so many 'celebrities' appearing on television ancestry programmes are told they are related to royalty/aristocracy and have their ancestry traced back centuries even into the 'dark ages'.  I have so fare been unable to trace my common ancestry back further than the 1600s. Records beyond that are impossible to find, if they even exist.
Just asking.

Going through a census entry for a family I am researching I came across this at the end of the entry: Jane, child of head". The head of the house was a widower, whose wife died round about the time of the wife's death.

Can anyone help me with this puzzle

Anglesey / Dew family
« on: Tuesday 13 July 21 11:42 BST (UK)  »
trying to track movement of T. R. Dew and family. Have them in Llanddanielfab in 1850 and in Beaumaris early 1860s. They are ar Mona House, Menai Bridge in 1867 where T. R. Dew died.
The widow and family then moved to Shropshire and later Warwickshire where their roots were. Can't access 1851 census or 1861 census on FamilySearch.

Just need their Anglesey addresses and family members/servants.

Sorry to be a pain.

Shropshire / Dew family
« on: Thursday 08 July 21 10:57 BST (UK)  »
Trying to locate a Dew family in Shropshire post 1867 (I know!). Mother, a widow, was Maria Louisa Dew. Need family names plus servant. Appreciate this is a needle-in=haystack request, but am hoping. Taken me a year to get this far.
