I am trying to trace the granddaughterof the above born in 1949 to Ernest George Reed WAITT and Marion Tennant SMILLIE   I have letters from her grandmother Isabella Ewing (Moore) from Jedburgh (the letters are written in the vernacular) which I am trying to give copies of to Glasgow University.   They were sent to my grandparents.   Before the University can accept them their is the matter of copywright.   I have had no success so far in being able to trace this granddaughter.    Any help would be much appreciated

I have checked both Scotlands people and BMDs for marriage and death with no results

World War Two / Pte Henry Paterson, 2RS - Lisbon Maru
« on: Sunday 28 March 21 19:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

my uncle Pte Henry Paterson 2 Royal Scots was sent from Hong Kong to Japan on the Jap prison ship Lisbon Maru.    on 1/2 Oct 1942 the ship was sunk in the S China Sea.    I have recently seen a doc dated 1944 that states he was killed in action but other POWs  are shown as lost at sea. Why the difference?
When I worked at Edinburgh Castle in the 80s I found it quite hard to get answers to any questions re the Lisbon Maru from the Royal Scots Museum and Regimental Headquarters in the Castle.  They quite honestly fobbed me off, most disappointing.

any help as always greatly appreciated

I have read the various books Tony Banham etc

Grateful (as always) for any help with the family of the above who emigrated to Canada on the Aquitania on 23 Jun 1946 from Southampton.    She was born in 1905 and married 1943 in Surrey to a Canadian serviceman (Frederick S Ives).    I would like to know the names of her children who travelled with her.   They were being repatriated to Canada, her husbands country.   I have searched Ancestry but to no avail.

Many thanks in advance

Lanarkshire / 13 year old giving birth? Family cover up? Elspeth Millar 1903
« on: Saturday 15 February 20 18:05 GMT (UK)  »
I have a family living in 4 North St, Glasgow.    Husband Adam Robson, partner Elspeth Millar.   They have 3 children together and are acknowledged as parents on BCs between 1899 and 1902.   However there is also a child born in 1903 same address, mother Elspeth, no father and birth registered by Mary Millar "sister".    The death cert is also registered by Mary and no father shown..    Mary was born in 1890 which would make her 13 IF she was in fact the mother.   Elspeth senior also died in 1903.

Could Mary have been the mother at 13?
Could the family covered this up by allowing Mary herself to register both events
The cause of death was congenital debility
