The Lighter Side / "recycled" dates
« on: Thursday 15 March 12 01:07 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone else see a pattern of dates being reused within their family?

Theres certain dates in my family that seem to be used over and over again.

My own birthday its one of them, its also my gt gt grandma's anniversary and the anniversary of gt aunts death (and weirdly her name - Annie - is my nickname even tho its nothing like my own name)

My grandma and shares a birthday with my sister in laws mum

My nephew was born on the anniversary of my sisters god mothers death, and My god daughter was born the day my god mother died.

My anniversary with my ex partner was the same date as my brother and sister in laws wedding.

2 of my gtgt grandparents share a death date several years apart.

obviously these are all coincidences but it just struck me how often the same date reoccured

The Common Room / strange co-incidence!
« on: Monday 05 March 12 20:31 GMT (UK)  »
I went out at weekend to take some photos for a fellow Rootschatter in one of the cemeteries fairly local to me.

Found the grave reasonably easily, and took the photos, then dad and I took a walk around for a few minutes, dads a pretty good 'grave hunter' now so i take him with me (makes me feel safer too!)

when we had finished we went back to the car & drove off, and for some reason as we drove past the chapel of rememberance the date popped right into my head - so i asked dad what date it was just to confirm what i thought, then i made him pull over & wait while i went into the chapel on my own, when i had been in i went & got dad and took him inside  .......................

And showed him for the first time ever the book of rememberance entry for HIS grandad who died in the 1950's!

I have no idea why the date suddenly popped in my head just then, or why out of all the dates and names floating around in my head that one and his grandads name suddenly made me realise - but i am SO glad it did right then & there!

The Lighter Side / A word of warning :p

LOL

grrr u u know when you have anasthetic n they say you shouldnt drive, operate machinery or (how do they word it?) make any legal & binding descisions or whatever it is..........

LOL well they should also add even if you are very very very bored DONT do any research you may later complately FORGET you made!

Just found some Genealogy notes I made last year that I totaly forgot I had researched - and it makes a HUGE difference to one side of my Tree, i.e I have the wrong parents listed.

The annoying thing is I have the CORRECT parents in the 'childs' info, and somehow i managed to list complately the wrong parents actually on the tree!

Since I know this is a side of the tree I was researching right around the time I had a major operation last year I can only put my stupidity and  total amnesia on remembering I actually had this info down to the after effects of the Anasthetic!!

NOT a happy Bunny right now!!

« on: Thursday 06 January 11 02:20 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Anyone got any ideas why I am not getting email notification fo replies to my last posts?
I am getting them on other queries I have replied to - but not to my own posts.

I was thinking no one had replied - until I went into my "see new replies to your posts" option - and there were loads of replies, but i havent had a single notification.

Any Suggestions please ?

Cheshire / Bollington Info Help please
« on: Sunday 17 October 10 14:43 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help please?

I have a receipt in my possesion which belonged to my Nana, for a grave purchasedby her mother - I believe by the dates this was a grave for her father who I have found out died a few days before this receipt was issued.

It states that on Dec 24th 1898 she purchased a 'piece of ground' for £1/3s from the Vicar of Bollington.

The fascinating thing to me is it gives EXACT information on where the grave is .........
"on the S[outh] West side of Bollington Church, within the precincts of the burial ground, at the Head of Samuel Chadwick, and Side by Side with James Clayton, and 8 Foot [then something i cant make out] from Walk in new burial ground under south wall of the Church"

My problem is ................... which Church would be the Parish Church of Bollington in 1898?
I know the area, but not very well as last time i went there it was about 15 years ago on a 'memory lane ' trip for my nana, and I am not certain which it would be ?

I have a week off work this week and I am thinking as I need to go over to Cheadle I would extend the trip and pop over to Bollington & maybe up to Rainow & Kerridge and look up a few 'family' areas - apparently my gt-grandparents old cottage just sold for a fortune according to one of my customers at work so I know its still standing!

Cheshire / St Elphins Church Warrington
« on: Saturday 12 June 10 18:46 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Is there anyone around that lives near St Elphins Church please?

Most of my Bibby & Savage families were parishoners here, I have Christenings, Marriages and Burials there.

Does anyone know what condition the gravestones are in?

I cant get there very easily, so I wanted to see what condition the graves are in before I persuade someone to take me.
I looked on Google to see if I could tell, I can see there are some headstones standing, but as the church is set back from the road you cant actually 'look' in from Google Street view.

Thanks

Lancashire / Burials in Phillps Park Cemetery
« on: Saturday 12 June 10 17:56 BST (UK)  »
I have just managed to locate my missing gt-gt-grandparents burial, finaly 'put them to rest' on the tree.
They WERE from Warrington but seem to have ended their days near their oldest daughter in Newton Heath.

However, I now have a query that I cant seem to get to the bottom of.

My gt's are in positions 1 & 2 in the grave.
John Bibby Buried 24/04/1902
Margaret Bibby buried 24/02/1915

Position 3
Elizabeth Lightfoot who was buried on 16/06/1921 (bmd reg Lightfoot    Elizabeth    60    Prestwich    8d   312)

and Position 4:
Elizabeth Hausall buried 14/01/1927 (BMD Hassall    Elizabeth    73    Manchester N.    8d   670)

The grave is C Concecrated grave 184.

I cant figure out if there is any connection between my gt's and the two Elizabeths .......... Can anyone work out if they are connected to either the Bibby or Savage Families? (Savage is Margarets Maiden name)
I have done a birth/marriage search for both of them, but I cant find any that would tie in

I cant find ANY Hausalls in the BMD's, however i DID find an Elizabeth Hassall who died in Manchester in the correct quarter.
