Could anybody please make this photo clearer.  The little girl in the photo was called Sequin by the Miss Bannisters who, 'adopted' (looked after) her during WW2, Edith Bannister on the left was an infant school  teacher who taught me at one time. They were both eccentric and dressed Sequin and themselves in outdated clothes.  I suppose they were the first hippies and they both had hearts of gold.  Sequin was later properly adopted by a family in Wales, she married and had at least one child, Alison who I've been in touch with through the power of Facebook, she has given me permission to post this photo.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Laptop failure

Just a general warning to everybody to keep a back up everything on your computer. Mine died the other night we think it is the hard drive so I have lost all my photos and files. I have also lost my photoshop connection so will  have to try and find my disc buried under years of paper work somewhere. It is devastating to lose years of work. Take care.

Technical Help / Facebook, private messages.
« on: Wednesday 24 October 18 23:31 BST (UK)  »
I am having problems, either writing a private message or replying to a private message on Facebook. In both cases I can only write about 20 words and the cursor slows down and doesn't keep up with the words I am typing. After about 30 words the whole message stops and will not continue or let me delete part or all of the message. The only thing I can do is come out of the message  by using the back arrow.
I then have to start again typing my message and posting in short sentences, or if I need to post a longer message I type it in word then copy and paste it into the message section of facebook.
Can anybody help me with this? Thank you
Pat

Technical Help / Not always able to scroll down on Facebook
« on: Friday 01 June 18 15:54 BST (UK)  »
Every now and again my screen 'locks' and I cannot scroll up or down. It usually lets me get nearly to the bottom of the first page and then just stops. Other times I can scroll down with no problems, but on an odd occasion it stops halfway down the page.
It is not the mouse playing up, because it will not scroll using the pad on my keyboard either. The only way I can clear this is to click off FB then back in, but of course you never find yourself at the same article again.
Has anybody else come across this problem? I would appreciate any help please.

My grandfather and my great grandfather, both called Lancelot Hoggarth died from unrelated deaths, 30 miles apart, within 3 days of each other. I have previously posted this on the Common room site as they lived in different counties and have been informed that  Great grandfather Lancelot who died in Lancashire on the 17th December was buried in Heversham, on the 19th Decenber. This is where his wife and a baby son were buried several years previously.

There appears to be no information for my Grandfather Lancelot born in 1857 and who died at Moor Green farm Whitbeck Cumberland on the 20th December 1903 aged 46 years. He left a wife and seven children, just before Christmas too.

Could anybody help me find his burial, I am unsure which record office may be able to help me. I have read it could be Barrow, Whitehaven or Kendal offices. I am disabled so unable to visit in person so would really appreciate any help you could give me.

The Common Room / Burials of my grandfather & gt. grandfather
« on: Monday 29 January 18 19:47 GMT (UK)  »
I am posting this on here as they lived in two different counties.
My gt. grandfather Lancelot Hoggarth born 1826, died aged 77 on 17th December 1903 at Plum Green, Colton, Lancashire.
Three days later his son, my grandfather, also called Lancelot Hoggarth born 1857, died aged 46 on the 20th December 1903 at Moor Green farm, Whitbeck, Cumberland.
The deaths were unconnected. It must have been a very difficult time for my grandmother living on a farm with seven children and just before Christmas.
I am unable to find any record of their burials. I suppose they might both have been buried at the same time as they only lived about 25 miles from each other.
I wonder if anybody can help me?

« on: Monday 08 January 18 11:14 GMT (UK)  »
Has anybody started watching this fascinating programme on BBC2. It is  brilliantly researched and traces the story of people across a span of 180 years who have all lived in the same house which was built in 1841 in Liverpool.
Episode one can be seen on iplayer and the other episodes will be shown on BBC2 on Thursday nights at 21.00 and repeated on BBC2 on Saturday nights at 19.00.
