London and Middlesex / Twickenham Burials 1810 and 1843
« on: Wednesday 02 August 23 04:06 BST (UK)  »
Im looking for the graves of Samuel Goddard and his wife Ann Fountain also known as Hill. Samuel died in 1810 and was a captain in the army. Ann remarried Rev Charles Hill then passed in 1843. Ann stated in her will she had purchased a plot in Twickenham Cemetery next to her husband Samuel Goddard. This would have been pre present Twickenham Cemetery. Is there any links to which cemetery it could be? Tried all the usual sites without success. Thanks Alex

The Common Room / Taylor Puzzle
« on: Wednesday 25 January 23 05:57 GMT (UK)  »
I have a Beatrice Taylor ch 12 Nov 1876 she appears on family census 1881 and 1891 , possibly a visitor on 1901 census , then I pick her up on the 1911 census where she is now Beatrice Ashton with a child Mary Kathleen Ashton 3yrs old born Hull ,the census says she had been married 5 years (1906+-)also on the census is her mother Frances Caroline Clark/Taylor who is classed as a visitor all the addresses match up OK. Never found a husband or marriage in that name. Mother FC Clark died 1922 and her probate mentions Beatrice Ashton as a spinster along with her sister Edith Gertrude Gill nee Taylor.
Beatrice married Percy Brook 1923 and the child became Mary Kathleen Brook , on the birth transcript as well as Ashton and was mentioned in Beatrice Taylor / Brooks probate as a spinster.
My questions are can she be married and still be a spinster? Ive researched the marriage for so long with no results ,there is a Beatrice Taylor marrying a Fred Ashton 1906 but its not my Beatrice ,dates wrong, father wrong my father is Alfred Herbert Taylor. Is it possible to marry and be divorced without any records? Thanks Alex

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Struggling with this will
« on: Thursday 12 January 23 07:33 GMT (UK)  »
I cant find the names of the people below, Im getting the Caroline and Adolphus Lewis names but but the last name eludes me. Ive tried searching A for the names with wildcards the military site for the Lt Colonel but nothing comes up. Thought the names would have stood out but no. They are related to the Will person but dont appear in the tree yet. I think the first initial is L but no combination I tried worked for me maybe new eyes need to look at it. Thanks Alex

I think this is my grandfather , when I research on An......y an F-M-P they show no records available but the f..... w.. records say they have them. Is it worth the subscription and will they actually have the records or do you just get a brief outline. I dont really need it for anything else. Thanks Alex

Hi all
I have found her birth and emigration details and know she lived in 21 White Line ,Hutt in 1978 and have been told she died in 1989 a spinster , but can find no details in any of the online local cemeteries as to where she could be buried or cremated or even when she died. There was no family in NZ  at that time to ask.
Thanks Alex

Kincardineshire / Niven and Chapman same mother Christian Coutts
« on: Tuesday 09 June 20 08:59 BST (UK)  »
I have a John Niven b 1822 married m1847 to Elizabeth Chapman b1826 Durris / Banchory Ternan area they both appear to have the same mother Christian (Christina) Coutts. Elizabeths  mother I know was born in Birse b1802 and never married got the death cert etc. Johns I know from his second marriage was an adultery with a Christian Coutts from Cairnhill his father being Charles Neven no other details on his mother it just says they were never married on his marr cert. As far as I can see Cairnhill and Birse are 30km apart. On Johns marr cert it never mentioned parents just that banns had been read etc. They would technically be brother and sister if it was the same person so it would not be allowed.the Niven is interchangable to Nevin neven nivens .Elizabeth died in 1854 I think cos John remarried in 1855 but no death recorded for her and cant find a death for john. Posted in Aberdeenshire forum as well.
Thanks
Alex
