I have a Beatrice Taylor ch 12 Nov 1876 she appears on family census 1881 and 1891 , possibly a visitor on 1901 census , then I pick her up on the 1911 census where she is now Beatrice Ashton with a child Mary Kathleen Ashton 3yrs old born Hull ,the census says she had been married 5 years (1906+-)also on the census is her mother Frances Caroline Clark/Taylor who is classed as a visitor all the addresses match up OK. Never found a husband or marriage in that name. Mother FC Clark died 1922 and her probate mentions Beatrice Ashton as a spinster along with her sister Edith Gertrude Gill nee Taylor.
Beatrice married Percy Brook 1923 and the child became Mary Kathleen Brook , on the birth transcript as well as Ashton and was mentioned in Beatrice Taylor / Brooks probate as a spinster.
My questions are can she be married and still be a spinster? Ive researched the marriage for so long with no results ,there is a Beatrice Taylor marrying a Fred Ashton 1906 but its not my Beatrice ,dates wrong, father wrong my father is Alfred Herbert Taylor. Is it possible to marry and be divorced without any records? Thanks Alex
