Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / 1841/1851 Look-up request please
« on: Saturday 25 February 06 12:17 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for Charles Fowlstone/Fowlston/Foulston/Foulstone who married Rebecca Ducker in 1840, they possibly didn't have any children at the time of the census. They were living in Thorne, Doncaster at the time and aged 20, Rebecca was a little older.
Charles' father was William, his mother Elizabeth, they may have been living with them.
Thank you  :)

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / 1841/51 Look up please SADLER
« on: Thursday 16 February 06 01:11 GMT (UK)  »
Can some one please look up on either the 1841 or 51 census a relative - it may be difficult or impossible as I have very little information.
The man I am looking for is John Sadler, he was born in Derbyshire, possibly Chesterfield about 1799 and was a farmer - at least he was in 1848 when his son James married.
Thank you in anticipation  :)

I may not have enough information for a search, especially with the name BROWN.

I found Samuel Brown on the 1881 census married to Sarah Ann, their children at the time were Samuel, Sarah, Albert, Joseph, William and Henry. Samuel's age is given as 36, born 1845 at St Lukes. Three of his children were given the middle name Hare.

I'm afraid I don't know anymore about Samuel or his family but have confirmed all details leading to him - Joseph James Hare Brown, shown on 1881 census, was born in St George East, he married Georgina Mills.  One of their sons was William Lloyd Brown born 1912 he married Margaret Merry in St George East in 1933.

A big thank you to any one who is able to look this one up for me  :)

Can I please have a look up for Elizabeth Northey on the 1861 census?
In 1871 Elizabeth married at Bethnal Green, her address at the time was 28 Harts Lane, she was a spinster and her father James was dead.  I'm hoping that in 1861 he was alive and living with his daughter. Unfortunatley, her age is given as 'full' on the marriage certificate so I don't know how old she would have been at the time of the census.
Thank you

London and Middlesex / MERRY, GAUTIER & PASCALL in Stepney
« on: Tuesday 22 November 05 22:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Does anyone have Gautiers or Pascalls, in or around Whitechapel, Stepney at the beginning of the 1800's? I believe the Gautiers were Huguenots.

I am mainly researching the Merry family. The earliest Merry I have is William who married Jane Pascall in 1827; their children and grandchildren were all born in Stepney.

Please contact me if you are related or are able to offer any information,

thank you

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / 1861 Cenus lookup - Sadler
« on: Thursday 08 September 05 17:20 BST (UK)  »
The person I am looking for is John Robert Sadler, he was born about 1850. On the 1881 census his birth place is given as Tatersall, Lincoln and Cottam on the 1901 census.

JR Sadler worked in the mines and married in Sheffield. I don't know anything else about him and hope that if he can be found living with his family in Lincolnshire in 1861 I may discover whether he moved to the Sheffield area as a child or young man. It would be helpful to know where his father was born and his trade, because if he was also a miner the family may have moved around mining areas.

Thank you in anticipation

Durham / Bensham Asylum, Gateshead
« on: Sunday 28 August 05 10:53 BST (UK)  »
Hello
Does anyone know anything about the Bensham Asylum around 1848.  My g g g grandfather died there at the age of 42 of dementia, he was a surgeon.
I Imagine that there is little known of this period as it closed in 1868 and patients were transfered to Dunston Asylum - possibly with any paperwork relating to Bensham. I am interested to know about the conditions and how the asylums were run at this time.
regards
